Chuck Berry and Bo Diddley's Guitar Legends contains five tracks apiece from the legendary rock & rollers, all culled from their classic recordings for Chess Records. There is a fair share of hits here, but not as many as you may expect -- Diddley's theme song "Bo Diddley" is nowhere to be found, nor is "Say Man" or "Crackin' Up," while any number of Chuck Berry tunes, including "Johnny B. Goode" and "Maybelline," are missing. That said, only the atrocious "My Ding-A-Ling" interrupts the flow (some may tire of complaining about how this offensively stupid /p>

ovelty was Berry's only number one hit, but not everyone), and the rest of the compilation is very good indeed. It's hard to argue with "I'm a Man," "Who Do You Love," "Road Runner," "You Can't Judge a Book by Its Cover," "Carol," "Thirty Days," "Roll over Beethoven" and "Almost Grown," even if not all of them burned up the charts. The result is a very, very entertaining sampler that's worth its budget price.

I see London, I see France, I see the Eiffel Tower reflected in Jeanne's shades....Today's Topic: BAST...

The TRUE king of Rock an' Roll

I'm sick of people calling Elvis Presley the king of rock an roll. NO WAY IN HELL.The true KING is CHUCK BERRY. Always was, always will be.Elvis's Sun singles are not bad, but how far removed from a minstrel show WAS his schtick? I mean really, all he did was ape any number of performers on the chitlin circuit! HE BROUGHT NOTHING ORIGINAL TO THE MUSIC. Most of the songs he recorded were ...

Real Rock

Yes, it's another installment of heart-warming musical moments with Colm. I'll be brief though. We decided it had been too long since we had thrown on a record and rocked out. Colm (to those not in the know, my best friend's 4 year old) made a point of asking for "real rock". Boy, I best not be trying to slip some of that watered-down crap past him. I wasn't really sure why he was referring...
