Renowned producer and Death Cab For Cutie member Chris Walla has a solo album out shortly titled Field Manual. This song, "Sing Again," is on it.
The solo release from Death Cab for Cutie guitarist Chris Walla opens with a haunting a capella verse: All hail an imminent collapse/You can fumble for your maps/but we're exhausted by the facts. The deluxe edition, with its steel blue cloth-covered exterior, is a delight to the eyes as well as the ears. Walla's curious photography decorates the lyrics booklet, and roses adorn the interior and the CD itself, as well as the cover. The album feels like a peek at a pri... MORE
so, as it happens, chris walla - guitarist in the little known band death cab for cutie - is also a great singer and songwriter in his own right. i've heard bits and pieces of "field manual" and am going to amoeba on tuesday to pick up a copy when it gets released because it's actually pretty damn good. they just (just as in like 16 minutes ago) released the video for the single "sing again". look for a ben gibbard cameo... *edit: so i've been trying for the last 20 min... Just a last wee thing before bed. As a huge Death Cab fan, I've been looking forward to Chris Walla's side project and new album called Field Manual...here's a sample from the album.
I'm somewhat suprised that there haven't been any write-ups on Chris Walla (of Death Cab For Cutie fame) and his debut solo album, Field Manual. Though Chris' voice is something of an acquired taste, listening to this album, you can definitely see where his influence on DCFC lies. There are some tracks on the album that I could live without, but overall it is solid. One of my favorite's off the album is "A Bird is a Song," and it could easily be a B-side off of a DCFC a... A lot of mixed reviews for Chris Walla's solo debut, "Field Manual." Most say the songs sound just like DCFC and will help kill the time until the new disc is out in May. Most reviewers miss the vital third or fourth listen, when the true colors of a disc start to shine through (or fade away). That happened to me with the new Nada Surf disc "Lucky" - which I decided was crap the first time and then listened a couple more and loved it. Walla's debut has a few clunkers, but ... MORE
via MTV News: Government snatched up master hard drive containing song files for Chris Walla's solo LP, which, coincidentally,is politically charged. By James Montgomery When Death Cab for Cutie guitarist/producer Chris Walla woke up on Monday, his "To Do" list probably read something like this: 1. Call MTV News to discuss upcoming, long-delayed solo record.2. Call U.S. Department of Homeland Security to discuss seizure of hard drive containing said long-delayed so... MORE
I'm back into the world of Mog. Yeah. I'm back in Lennoxville filled with adventures from Camp Amy Molson and new high speed internet. That's right, the school invested in high speed - so no more bitching about rez internet from me. I'm busy as a fool, between classes (Theatre Production, anyone? Insane time grabber...), work (saving the Lennoxvillian student population with Student Safety), clubs & a social life. But, I wouldn't have it any other way. After having bee... MORE
