‘New Worlds’ was created with her long-time collaborator Rob Ellis (the drummer, producer and arranger best-known for his work with PJ Harvey since 1990), the two randomly playing together in a studio in Wales before recording the songs completely live in a single week in London, produced by Luke Smith (ex-Clor, Depeche Mode) and mixed [...]

Well, the Best-of-2007 lists continue to roll in. Me? I’d rather not join in. Not a list-maker. You all know what I like by now if you pay a little attention to my MOG page – although I certainly don’t expect anyone to give a rat’s ass. I will go on record as saying that there were myriad thrills in the digital “grooves” for me this past year. But I continue to wait (seemingly in vain)

It’s strange to think that Charlotte Hatherley was once in the amazingly popular rockers known to many as Ash. In the time since she was asked to leave the band, the career paths of band artists couldn’t be any more different. Ash have remained as a three-piece and have notoriously ditched the album format in [...]

You may already know Charlotte Hatherley as the former guitarist of Northern Irish rockers Ash, but now, having been solo for nearly five years and releasing two albums in that time, she is becoming a bit of a rock sensation herself. Although her debut album didn't make the biggest impact on the music scene, her second [...]

Well, it took almost two years, but one of my foremost rock crushes (and a former member of the power-popping band Ash), Brit singer-songwriter-guitarist Charlotte Hatherley, is finally about to release her third solo album New Worlds. From where I hear, her first two - 2004's Grey Will Fade and 2007's The Deep Blue - far outstrip anything recorded by Ash. Hatherley's mix of hard-edged, pop-tun...

You guys remember that mix I made for my youngest son Joshua as a Christmas present? If you don't, "+here's a refresher on what I did.+":http://mog.com/Dale/blog_post/133112Here's the good news: the mix has gone down a treat, he loves it. He listens to it anytime he's in his room, and it has become the preferred soundtrack to our car rides together. He sings along, despite his brothers' protest...

My previous post was all about the stunning moment when you encounter music that makes your ears prick up, and your brain flip, and your body shudder with excitement. That’s what discovering English singer-songwriter-guitarist Charlotte Hatherley was like for me.I have to say that my zeal about Hatherley (an ex-member of the punky, poppy Northern Ireland rock band Ash) has not diminished in the .
