Ok, I don't mind stirring up a debate cuz I got a viable candidate and I'd love to hear anyone I might prefer. But I just got the album by Catfish Haven and to my ears George Hunter is the best singer to hit the rock scene since Graham Parker. It's similar turf, and I remember Graham getting criticized for having limited range so he recorded some tracks where he hit high notes that shoulda been abrasive coming from a man but were fucking beautiful without going into any ph... (Ryan, the drummer for Catfish Haven, after the show.) Well, Saturday night was a pretty great night to be rock n' reelin' in Nashville, TN. Besides the MOG show at the Basement, which was at capacity from about 10:30 (which is really early around here), there was another sell-out local show at the 1000-capacity Mercy Lounge down the road. I'm going to keep this short and sweet, 'cause I'm exhausted. Last night's MOG-sponosred show with Catfish Haven, Turnoats and SJ & The Props was WAAAY rad. It was a packed house at The Basement, the bands were better than I've ever seen them and the bartender was REALLY happy at the end of the night. All in all, a stunning success. I'll post some pictures and give you the full run down soon, but for now I'm gonna listen to the Kinks and play Tetris.

this was an insane weekend. i think The Grand Palace has to be in the top five if not the best "venue" the boro has ever seen, but remember folks they are not a "venue", they are a record shop, recording studio, screen printing company, that likes music as much as me and you. i still congratulate them on a great first year. in the murfreesboro music scene, they are a central asset in the growth and continuation. i think i fell in love not with just one man, but three last night.
