Easy to Please is a 1962 LP that yielded no hits for Carl Smith, and finds him in transition between the experimentation that produced his last major hits and his return to pure honky tonk music. "Love While You Can" uses a banjo to replicate the sound of Smith's hits "Make the Waterwheel Roll" and "Ten Thousand Drums" from 1959-1960, while most of the other tracks adopt a shuffle beat and swingy style that is very close to the music he made later in the '60s. "After the Boy Gets the Girl," a sweet song that was recorded by hard country singers from Ernest Tubb to Webb Pierce, is one departure from the dancefloor formula, as is the mildly humorous title track. Easy to Please is an intriguing record even if it didn't set the charts on fire.
