It's been a while since I posted on my band, Flood Empty Lakes. Not that things haven't been moving forward, I just didn't want to bore you with details. I mean, you guys have been awesome in your support and comments, but it's not like you want to follow us around a la Deadhead style, is it?So I thought I'd wait and just mention the bigger things. And the biggest news of all is that we are ...
There's a lot of MOGlove for Can around these here parts. And with good reason, too. Influential and awesome, really. What more needs to be said? But if you were to scroll through the Can posts, you would notice a definite bias towards the earlier days of the band. From inception through 1973, when Damo Suzuki left the band, Can has had plenty of acclaim. But that wasn't the end of the sto...
. . . and that means NaNoWriMo time. If you weren't here last year while I underwent this ordeal, NaNoWriMo is an annual contest of sorts to try and get as many people as possible to write a novel during the month of November. The rules are pretty simple: you have to write 50,000 words between the first and last day of November. If you do, you win. Regardless of how terrible the actual qual...
The digital remastering of all 13 albums by German musical pioneers CAN has been completed and the albums are being packaged and released as I write this. The first of the flood of new CAN treasures is Anthology, a compilation of 29 Can tunes that have been artfully remastered with new liner notes by Kosmiche Club. The album is available as a double CD or digital download from Mute Records.An...
My very first Can album was the re-mix album Sacrilege. Personally I love this album, and since then I've gone on to get every album I've been able to (not all, but getting there!)I know it's sort of a hit or miss with Can fans out there, so I'm curious what the rest of you think about it.
I'm loving all the music news on MOG lately. I don't have to go searching for a gossip fix anymore. But you know i've got to keep true to my freaky musical roots, so here's a post for all you krautheads out there. This is the first post i've ever done about Can, mostly because I love them so much I can't really (and don't want to) articulate that love. Yesterday a little birdy gave me an iT...
Yet another goofy video. I love this song but the video is just horrifically bad. Oh Can what happened? I wish the sound quality was a little better. If you get a chance download this song. I like it a lot and it's not very typical of Can. The video looks like it's from a German comedy from the '70's. I want to know what's up with that statue? And are those girls dancing on a giant tamb...
Apparently there's been a few people who have mogged about CAN in the past, but for whatever reason I never noticed them until "Groon's krautrock post":http://mog.com/Groon/blog_post/131372.I was finally able to find a cd of theirs at Half Priced Books of all places. It's pretty amazing. Hopefully I'll be able to obtain some more (if I'm not too busy buying vinyl. Quadrophenia: Great condition:...

while in oz, i purchased my very first vinyl record ever. and it was none other than can's, unbelieveably perfect, "tago mago". i couldnt be more excited about it. im actually more excited about the record than having seen rhcp in concert (review will be coming in the next few days). its a double record, with "halleluwah" taking up one whole side of the first record (arguably one of the best so...
can. everything about this band is weird. one of the oddest bands ive ever heard. for a while there, "tago mago" was, without a doubt, my favorite album of all time. come to think about it, still is. and my favorite song is definitely "halleluwah". which brings me to the point of this post: what are the weirdest/kookiest lyrics you have ever heard?mine?"searching for my blow-up doll, yes i am!"...
