There are few artists out there that we are huge fans of and we actually get to meet. As of last week, Calvin Harris can officially be crossed off our fanboy obsession list. We had the pleasure of meeting up with Calvin, Mark (Manager), Mark (band member) before their show at the Vanguard last Saturday [...]
Scottish electronic musician, singer-songwriter and record producer Calvin Harris (a/k/a Adam Wiles) had a gold album with 2007's I Created Disco which spawned top 10 singles "Acceptable in the 80s" and "The Girls", has written and produced records for Kylie Minogue and a #1 UK collaboration with Dizzee Rascal, but he has not had the same success here stateside. That should change with the rece...
Calvin Harris’ latest album Ready For The Weekend is pretty good. I didn’t review it or release any of the songs because of a label request but now that they hype calming down I think we’re in the clear. I find a lot of people criticizing this album for not having enough depth and poor [...]Related posts:Calvin Harris – I’m Not AloneYeah Yeah Yeahs – Heads Will RollVampire Weekend
There’s no denying it, Calvin Harris has the potion for making hits.Since Acceptable In The 80’s made it’s first debut back in 2006 he’s been one of the biggest commercial success stories in the UK. Now whether they’re good hits or not is entirely up to you but he’s infiltrated the charts like a SWAT team [...]

Expectations are a bitch. I had high hopes for the new Calvin Harris album, Ready for the Weekend, especially after the string of killer hits he has produced since last year’s collaboration with Dizzee Rascal, and my No. 2 song of last year, “Dance Wiv Me.” He’s followed it up with not only his own ace singles (“I Am Not Alone,” “Ready for the Weekend”) but also terrific remixes fo
Calvin HarrisReady For The WeekendThe US has been way late to this dance music thing. Sure, there are superstar DJs filling crowds in trendy spots like Las Vegas, LA, and Miami, and there is strong following of B-more club/electro, and even dubstep in the underground reaches of the our clubs, but for the most part, [...]
Calvin HarrisReady For The WeekendUltra Recordsout August 18th48/100[Rating Scale]4.8 out of 10 starsCalvin Harris wants to stick to the music, and for good reason. On his sophomore effort, Ready For The Weekend he has a lot to be proud of. The album is thought out, textured, and deserves better than a treatise on 90s [...]
Scottish electro-wiz Calvin Harris released his debut I Created Disco back in 2007 and instantly made a name for himself. I actually really liked his debut with all the retro sounds and was looking forward to his follow-up. That is until I gave his latest release Ready for the Weekend a listen. This is probably one of the worst albums I've heard in years. Cheesy 80's synths with uninspiring bea...
--- - |- One of the first posts on the blog was my favorite track "The Girls" by Calvin Harris. Dragonette just did a cover of his song called "The Boys". Now, I am usually not a fan of cover songs, but this one was well done. Props to my boy Bradley D for sending this track to me. Found the video for the song also, and download link is at bottom of post. boomp3.com Downloa...

Calvin Harris continues his take over of the charts with his latest release from his 'Ready for The Weekend' album.'Flashback' seems to take its lead from Armand van Heldon with a powerful opening leading into another commercial hands-in-the-air dance track that sounds great on the radio, but seamlessly migrates across...
Take one part Har Mar Superstar, one part Chromeo, and one part Jamiroquai and fill glass halfway. Fill the rest with some seriously funky disco electro and you've got yourself Calvin Harris. I don't know how I missed this guy. This is seriously good mix cd material here. He's got some smooth and very danceable music. Check it out. He's all over the blogosphere. Calvin Harris 'The Girls'...
Calvin Harris and Vegas. There is something about this song. It makes me want to go to Vegas. I miss the smell of heavy cigarette smoke, the lights and sounds of all the slot machines. The all you can eat buffets. If there is a time to go it might be before the summer really settles in because it can get waaaaaay hot over there. Heat and Pat don't mix well.
