Intimate Portrait is exactly that -- a revealing and candid look at Caedmon's Call and what makes them who they are. It presupposes a great deal of familiarity with the band and interest in the personal lives and struggles of the band. The live acoustic set is particularly nice, with the ballads "Piece of Glass" and "The Truth" and the wry "April Showers," a critique of the church and its separation from the world around it. The "Hope to Carry On" video is well done, with a cameo by premier Christian songwriter Rich Mullins. This enhanced CD might get a little long for casual fans of the band, but is a must-have for any true fan.
