So here's the deal. A few years back I wrote a novel entitled Long Way Back. It's the story of a guy who has a profound religious experience as a child and a profound tragedy as an adult, and how punk rock helps bring him back to life again. The ending of this book is the best thing I've ever written, and I'm really proud of the whole thing. It's a quick, easy read, and, I think, fun and uplifting. It's really a love letter to music--the music that saw me through not ... MORE
Right, so I know this is probably a redundant post ... & I know this is a song constantly covered by so many different bands the list must be endless at this point ... but has that _ever_ stopped me before ... NOPE !!! ;) I still remember the day in jr high, very sunny, on the back of the bus heading home ... Mike Smith, the youngest & cutest of the Smith clan had me give it a listen. He had already introduced me to Dead Kennedys & Suicidal Tendencies & the Sex Pisto... MORE

I had hoped to get this going earlier in the evening, but hey, punk rock is not for pansies, right? Join the party, I'll get this rolling with a classic ...
I always have mixed feelings when I hear a commercial using a song by one of my old favorite artists. On the one hand, I get the smug, superior "I knew this song before it was cool and before it was ever used for marketing" feeling; but on the other hand, I also get the sick, depressed "Oh god, this great song is being used to sell [whatever]" feeling. (Sometimes the choices are just laughable, such as Royal Caribbean using Iggy's _Lust For Life_ -- nothing says fun-time... MORE
every time we listen a good record or watch a great rock band live, you can think "oh... i would love to play in that band... i can donate my entire organs just to be part of that".... but let's face it... let's put our feet down... everyone's got a particular personality and we've gotta know where and with whom we can fit in... so i've always think about that... in my fantasies, in which rock band that i like, i can fit in?..... where can i feel confortable?..... which...
