The Buttholes' punks-on-acid debut mini-LP owes as much to Captain Beefheart and rockabilly as it does to hardcore punk and thrash, setting Gibby Haynes' processed vocals against a backdrop of skewed, sludgy noise-riffing. Yet at the same time, the songs display a surprisingly melodic, structured sensibility, which draws the listener into the band's decidedly not fake dementia. Contains such necessary items as "The Shah Sleeps In Lee Harvey's Grave," "The Revenge of Anus Presley," and "Bar-B-Q Pope."
