Exciting and heart breaking, and original, yet familiar; Built to Spill's new album is everything that I had hoped that it would be. There is No Enemy is comprised of eleven tracks which were recorded over a span of three years. I have to admit that, when you love a band as much as [...]
Built to Spill have already given us a sample of their upcoming album, There Is No Enemy, but now they've made the whole dang thing available on their MySpace. The real deal will hit stores on October 6th.
Just a few weeks back I caught Built to Spill for about the third time at the opening day of Outside Lands, and I really felt like the band was nailing the time slot perfectly for the crowd that was at the fest. They’re heading back out on the road this week starting in [...]Related posts:Girl Talk | Fall 2008 Tour DatesGirl Talk Album Pushed Back, Fall 2008 Tour DatesTour Dates: The Mars Volt.
Here's the first track from Built To Spill's There Is No Enemy, out October 6th. It sounds just like the good old Built To Spill that we all know and love, but it lacks that punch that comes with tracks from There's Nothing Wrong With Love or Keep It Like A Secret. For the past week or so I’ve been catching up with the new Built To Spill album There Is No Enemy, and I have to say I’ve been enjoying it a lot. I don’t mean that to sound like I’m surprised, it’s just that besides “Conventional Wisdom” I didn’t find much to enjoy on 2006’s You In Reverse. To think back over a career of an artist like Built To Spill is, to an extent, the same as doing it for Radiohead or Death Cab For Cutie. Albums come and go, and they’re all pretty damn great; they all hold their own, unique special place in your heart. Joining Stephen Malkmus in our series of Indie Rockers Talk Fantasy Hoops that I didn't realize was a series until today, the Built To shredder finally spills his deepest fantasy basketball secrets. The name of Doug's league with SM? Plastered In a Sports Bra (Stephen's commissioner.) Who he'll never draft again? Damon Jones, obvs. (I have no idea who that is.) Read it all at Rotoworld . (Thank...

I FINALLY got to see Doug Martsch and Built To Spill this past fall, and all of my feelings about the band were totally confirmed. Brilliant! The lyric dropping in this song is so great...its sort of a love song to all of the great songs that came before....and I love it!
