Tenor-saxophonist Buddy Tate and Bob Wilber (mostly on alto) make for a potent team on this consistently swinging quartet date with bassist Sam Jones and drummer Leroy Williams. Tate has one appearance apiece on baritone and clarinet (the latter for Wilber's exquisite "Curtains of the Night") while Bob Wilber also plays a bit of soprano and clarinet. A superior repertoire, the variety of lead voices and consistently strong solos make this a set worth picking up.
