Buddy Guy – Skin Deep

Founder of Chicago's legendary Chess Records, Leonard Chess, once called Buddy Guy's live guitar shows as "motherfucking noise." Years later, as Buddy Guy was touring England and leaving lasting impressions on young rockers Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck, Rod Stewart, and the Rolling Stones, Chess would regret not releasing any of Buddy Guy's 'noise.' According to Guy, after he left Chess Records ...

A Traveler's Journal of Montreux By Day and By NightNestled on the edge of Lake Leman (evidently the locals do not call the lake "Lake Geneva"), Montreux Jazz Festival has held court since 1967 in an idyllic, mystical setting that only adds to the enchantment of the music emitted from its grounds. On any given day, you can watch one of the world's greatest jazz artists' voice quake in one corne...

Happy Birthday to "*Buddy Guy*":http://allmusic.com/cg/amg.dll?p=amg&sql=11:kiftxq95ldke, born on this day in 1936 in Lettsworth, Louisiana. Jimi Hendrix stated that Buddy Guy was a huge influence on his playing, and Eric Clapton has called him the greatest blues guitarist ever (hence my cheekiness in the post title). With Muddy Waters as a mentor, and the likes of Freddy King, Magic Sam and Ot...

Perhaps the most important blues musician still touring today (I'd say tied with B.B. King) is Buddy Guy. Without a doubt the best showman to ever play the blues, and the biggest influence to all the rock guitar guys from the late 60's early 70's. Eric Clapton said "Buddy Guy was to me what Elvis was for others. He is by far and without a doubt the best guitar player alive...if you see him in ...

Saw Buddy at The Bank of America Pavillion in Beantown this wknd. Would have liked to have seen some of his older tunes, but his new stuff sounded great live. He played a real short set. I really hope it is due to the fact that he is 72 years old and wanted to play early that he did not headline, because it's a crime to have him open for George Thorogood. I like Georgey, but fuck, he made a liv...
