By popular demand, I'm trotting out British singer-songwriter Bryan Ferry's stirring, downright hair-raising rendition of the Everly Brothers' song "The Price of Love" to spark your synapses and shake your complacency on what might otherwise be a sedate Sunday.Actually, the demand was more of a request from estimable MOGger ivylander who recently laid down a noteworthy post on Don and Phil Ever...
Just so y'all here know, I put up a list of songs with the word "Kiss" in the title, for your perusal, "here":http://whosyrdad.multiply.com/music/item/766.Here's a taster:
There’s something comforting about hearing castanets on a recording by Bryan Ferry – the unabashedly British post-modern rock crooner/sophisticate/poseur, and a true original. Castanets. That sort of unlikely, but terribly continental touch is almost expected from the man who brought the tuxedo and brilliantine slicked-back hair to progressive art-rock.Way back in 1973, castanets popped up in
Roxy man says sorry after Jewish uproar 16 April 07 - Roxy Music frontman Bryan Ferry has apologised after praising Nazi iconography in a German magazine.Talking to Welt am Sonntag, he said the Nazis "knew how to put themselves in the limelight and present themselves...I'm talking about the films of Leni Riefenstahl and the buildings of Albert Speer and the mass marches and the flags. Smoothed out and synthed to the point of annoyance as it is, nobody but Mr Ferry could make this cover of the old Screamin Jay standard so sweetly addictive.
While I hesitate to recommend anything that is even loosely associated with kooky loser Tom Cruise, he'll get a pass on this one, Ridley Scott's 1985 goth epic "Legend". The movie featured Tim Curry (from Rocky Horror) as this giant demon, bent on turning the world to darkness by stealing the horn of the last unicorns. The delectable Mia Sara plays a curious girl who unwittingly helps the demon...
Excellent evening and world class company. I hope everyone got back OK. Let me know. (You know who you are.)My only regrets are that I didn't get any grilled meat and am still fit enough to turn my computer on. Still, well missed the last train. Big plus is that I have a stamp on the back of my hand that looks like it won't wash off for a few days. And we did a small crime. Just about got away ...
Bryan Ferry cover's The Beatles You Won't See MeMuch like his contemporary David Bowie, Ferry consolidated his glam-era success with a covers album, his first full solo effort even while Roxy Music was still going full steam. Whereas Bowie on Pin-Ups focused on British beat and psych treasures, Ferry for the most part looked to America, touching on everything from Motown to the early jazz standard
The reviews I've seen for the new Bryan Ferry LP "Dylanesque" result in the greatest polarity of opinion I've seen in years. Some say a brave re-work, some a travesty to Dylan's songs. I haven't heard the album yet, so can't judge.I'd be interested to know other opinions from Moggers. Here's "Positively 4th Street"

It was the first album released by the former Roxy Music frontman since 2002.
