All those Broken Social Scene fans who missed out on tickets for next year's over-subscribed ATP Festival curated by Pavement have cause for celebration today. The band who will also support Pavement on one of their London shows have confirmed their own headline show for London on May 17.
I’ve never read The Time Traveler’s Wife, but I think that after seeing the trailer for the movie adaptation of Audrey Niffenegger’s novel, I don’t think I really need to. It doesn’t appear that there’s any interesting bit of storyline left for the movie itself to reveal. That’s a shame, because I know that at [...]
I almost can’t believe that this is Kevin Drew on vocals. I’m not sure whether his best Ian Curtis was better left unsung, but Broken Social Scene do a very Broken-social-scened cover/tribute version of Joy Division’s “Love Will Tear Us Apart” nonetheless. The cover is set for the soundtrack of The Time Traveler’s Wife, and [...]
The super-group behemoth that is Broken Social Scene are back and ready to record a new album after four years. The respective artists of the band (ranging from members of Metric to the Apostle Of Hustle to Do Make Say Think) have all put their main musical distractions to one side and regrouped to create the follow up to 2005's fantastical self-titled full length.
Kevin Drew and his fellow Broken Social Scenesters performed an epic set at Chicago's Metro on November 11th, showcasing material from Drew's Spirit If... solo album. If you've never seen BSS live before, allow me to fill you in on what you're missing. If you happened to catch the slimmed-down version of Broken Social Scene at the Metro, then you were probably left with one indelible impression:...

One is from the soundtrack to The Time Traveler’s Wife and it’s a cover of Joy Division’s “Love Will Tear Us Apart” by Broken Social Scene. The other is Atlas Sound’s rendition of [...]
It would have to be a pretty special band to get me out to the dreaded Sound Academy for the always dreaded all ages show. But when the band in question is Broken Social Scene (whom I haven't seen for about two years now,) well, one has to set aside his own personal beefs and put forth the effort to be there. And what can I say?...the band once again proved themselves to be nothing short of epi...

Broken Social Scene "Fire Eye'd Boy" (mp3) from "Broken Social Scene" (Arts & Crafts) For those who don't know, Broken Social Scene is an 'indie rock supergroup' from Canada made up of core members Kevin Drew and Brendan Canning who formed BSS in 1999. A whole cast of their other friends including: Jason Collett, Leslie Feist, Charles Spearin, David Newfield, and too many other people to...
