Broadcast Biography

It's hard to mention Birmingham, England's Broadcast without referencing two other acts: the Anglo/Franco art-pop band Stereolab and the 1960s art-rockers the Unites States of America. Stereolab released Broadcast's early singles in the late 1990s and established the basic sonic template for the cerebral organ-drenched music the band plays; and Broadcast themselves have spoken incessantly about the huge debt they owe the latter obscure American band. The references are not unjustified, as Bro...Read More >

Del disco tender buttons este temaso que ilumina un disco un tanto débil pero gustoso, son de aquellos discos que cuando los escuchas en otro lugar que no sea tu i-pod o radio, suena bien y hasta tarareas la melodía. Agradable, meloso y tranquilo.... MORE

I wanted to put something heavy up. When the going gets tough I have a tendency to either get very negative or to vent motion through music. The latter is usually a much better idea. I am in disbelief that I have never posted a Broadcast song before. They are spectacular, can't say enough good things. This song Hawk is bludgeoning, but that is what I needed at this moment. If you just woke up, this is not the post for you.... MORE

Blog post image preview Hey there,
I was just wondering if anyone out there had any good recommendations for krautrock bands (or bands influenced by krautrock) that I should check out. I'm very into Faust, Can and Oneida but I can't find too much that has that same quality to it.
    Danke!

Blog post image preview Broadcast are a band from the future of Britain’s past. They idealise pop music and yet set themselves deep into the avant-garde, like a William Burroughs essay on new British pop sensations "Girls Aloud" (i think i threw up a little just mentioning their name). Their new album, "The Future Crayon" (which is this week's obsession), is a collection of previously released singles for everyone not quite obsessive enough to track down all those endless seven inches and compilati... You know how in the 1930-40s, we had this vision of what the future was? Chrome rocketships, jet packs, and everyone dressed all in white? Trish Keenan and James Cargill live in that future. Luckily for us, in the early years of the 20th century, they boarded the first interdimensional rocketship and crossed to our space/time, and they're now releasing music under the name Broadcast. Evoking 1960s lounge music reinterpreted through claustrophobia and static, Broadca... MORE
