Britney is back. The recovering pop-star made a positive return to television last night on an episode of the CBS sitcom, How I Met Your Mother. She does a great job of playing a ditzy doctor's receptionist. The show, which also stars Doogie Howser, M.D. and the "at band camp" girl, is actually pretty funny.

We're going to make this one short and sweet. Britney Spears was released from the UCLA Medical Center's psych ward on yesterday Wednesday, after a little less than a week of treatment. Britney is getting what she asks for in the lead single, "Gimmie More" off her latest album Blackout: More time in the UCLA Medical Center's psych ward she was forced to admit to last Thursday for mental evaluation. The saga that is Britney Spears' life just got crazier. If you haven't heard the news on CNN, the judicial system has found Britney Spears mental and ordered her on a psychiatric hold for the next three days, which possibly might be extended to 14 days. Britney Spears got her drug test results back today - POSITIVE! Positively amped on amphetamines according to the tests. Spears' album is estimated by SoundScan to bring in more than 330,000 in week-one sales. Spears' first-day sales totaled 124,000 copies. Perhaps I'm contrarian; I never liked Britney's music, her press manipulations, her looks-- and found neither a sense of frisson nor schadenfreude over her recent, er, mishaps/crack habits... and by crack I mean But now, now I have become her biggest fanboy. I'm not sure what it says about me that I had to listen to Britney Spears' new album as soon as it was available on Yahoo! Music. Try not to judge. I had very low expectations of "Blackout" what with all of Britney's latest antics, so it may not be of much surprise that the album exceeded my expectations. She has custody of her kids, she doesn't have custody of her kids. Apart from what's going on with the trainwreck diva's person life, her new album Blackout is still a go for October 30th.

Due to early leaks of Britney Spears' forthcoming album... we're guessing she ate a handful of Valium and left the master demos at a local Coffee Bean while picking-up an Ice Blended that would later be spiked with Bailey's... Spears' label, Jive, has pushed up the album's release date to October 30th. Originally, the album was set for release November 13th. The album will be called (drum roll, please) Blackout.
