Don't Take Me To Space (Man). The 'songs don't need to be longer that 2 minutes' band, Brakes (Brakes Brakes) are back with their 3rd album, Touchdown. If you get the chance, go and see them if only to watch manic main man, Eamon, turn into a possessed cherry tomato, reeling out tune after tune after tune...... February 16th. Got that? For this is the announced date that Brakes will release their debut single 'Hey Hey' from their upcoming third album Touchdown (their first release with new label FatCat Records). To coincide with the release, the Brighton-based quartet will hit the UK at the end of January next year, stopping off at a total of seven venues in around this rather cold, wet Kingdom.

Porcupine or Pineapple - Livehttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GxzWord9_JMBrighton, England's BrakesBrakesBrakes take matters into their own hands on "Porcupine or Pineapple," the weirdo rockers' second single from their latest studio offering, The Beatific Visions. Here, the 60-second snippet finds the always-eccentric frontman Eamon Hamilton pitting a porcupine against a pineapple, but animal ac...

i love a band that can throw down an AWESOME song in the space of sixty-four seconds. Eamon Hamilton, who was previously a full time member in the SUBLIME British Sea Power started Brakes with two of the fellows from the equally sublime Electric Soft Paradethe guy is nuts - playing with BSP, he used to run through the crowd banging on a drum for a large chunk of the set. this doesn't sound all...

Hold Me In The River live The Beatific Visions is Brakes’ follow-up to Give Blood and comprises 11 tracks of sometimes dizzying intensity, rattled out in a spritely 28 minutes. Rather like Give Blood, it’s a bold, sometimes brilliant and occasionally ramshackle experience that mostly impresses. But the best thing that can be said about it is that you’ll be desperate to hear it all over again

As I'm new to this mogging business (Hi by the way), in a moment of self congratularity I decided to start putting together a mix tape of new and old stuff from my album collection. I've been reading Mog for awhile and Brakes were a band I read about here and felt suitably impressed enough to go and buy their latest record "The Beatific Visions".I started with "Cease Or Desist" because the song...

I discovered this band thanks to InSound's free mp3 of the week. Brakes are a UK band featuring members of The Electric Soft Parade, British Sea Power, Mockin' Bird Studio and The Tenderfoot. Hard to get more super-indie than that huh? They've played with Belle & Sebastian, The Editors and The Killers. I like they're sound a lot. And now I want to get my hands on this sold out 7". Why is everyt...

All Night Disco Party..Brakes were formed when Tom White (guitar) and Alex White (drums) of The Electric Soft Parade saw Eamon Hamilton (vocals, guitar) then of British Sea Power perform a solo gig supporting The Lonesome Organist in Brighton(UK). Marc Beatty (bass) of Mockin' Bird Studios and The Tenderfoot (and who also worked with British Sea Power, when recording their debut album) was also...
