Berlin dance duo Booka Shade will release their 3rd studio album on May 26th. The album is titled The Sun & The Neon Light and the first single is the double A-side "Planetary/City Tales." That's right - there's no B-side! New Yorkers are spoiled when it comes to indie rock. Night after night, venues throughout the city overflow with guitars, drums and bass. Long time Lurking, but haven't posted for quite a while.
I've been in a "dancy" mood for the past 2 or 3 months. It's a new feeling for me, the ceaseless need to move and shake and such. So I've been counting on my collection of music that hasn't heard the light of day (wha?) for quite some time.

I discovered Booka Shade while trawling the Coachella set list for bands I hadn't heard.
Been listening to Movements now repeatedly - to the point that its interrupted my list of music to listen to before the festival.

It may not be news to others, but Stu heard through the !K7 Records e-mail newsletter that a new installment in the DJ Kicks series by none other than Booka Shade is coming out in October!
Stu hasn't seen a tracklisting yet, but the mix should be dyno-mite!

Minimalistic Chicago House meets Detroit Electro. Cold and futuristic sounding house but with some serious funk thrown in here and there. This will get you moving for certain. A bit like Kelley Polar minus the vocals. Or, it's like Plastic Man wearing a Bill Cosby sweater. Minimal and funky. I recommend it. Straight up yo. It's very forward thinking dance music. Not your typical club music.
