A great song I just ran across from BDP's Sex and Violence album.
Good story that ends with a twist. I think this punishment should be instituted for our good friend Robert Kelly.
Anyway, the song is funny to me because I called up a new "friend" of mine yesterday to invite her to hang with me and a couple friends of mine at this bar downtown, to which she replies, "I can't. I'm not 21."

Is this nothing more or less than the best hip-hop record of the 80s? Of all time? I don't know and I don't know if it matters but this is a great record. If you are a fan of hip-hop you've heard samples of this stuff from artists like N.W.A. to Mos Def...man, you compare this record to the same stuff Ice-T was doing at the same time and it would be like comparing Muhammad Ali's skills to Sgt Slaughter...I am having a hard time only recommending one or two tracks...T... The Best of B-Boy Records is the greatest hits compilation album by Boogie Down Productions and the final release by KRS-One under the "BDP" moniker. "Advance" was always one of MY favorite tracks, no disrespect to the Crash man.

...this has got to be one my top five KRS-ONE/ BDP tunes, and I'll get to kill two birds with one stone by posting it because on top of the hip hop toasting, he makes great use of the Don Drummond & Skatalites' instrumental ska classic "Man In the Street" with a break beat loop of that tune's horn tag...the blast master was in top form for this whole album which I like to bump loudly, there' a great message in there too...so turn your speakers wayyy up...
