....The humidity is so high its like walking through a rainfall in suspended animation. The kind of steamy still-air night that cries out for lost-soul blues. & right on time Ms Bonnie Raitt strolls in guitar on hand, & wrings the tears outta the smokey night. .......... .........a long time ago....long before the stars were torn down....one could go to a club in worcester MA called Sir ...

Like any story passed on with some music this needs to be taken with a grain of salt. Here is what was told to me and this is what I know.An intern at WMMR in the 80's recorded this show to ananalog source. Being such a tremendous recording thisindividual longed to re-record the master reel straight to a digital source as they became increasingly popular in theearly 90's. At this point the inte...

Thank you inrumford for this post. Bonnie Raitt is a treasure. She is among that elite group of archivists who's encyclopedic knowledge of roots music is awe inspiring & humbling. And if she were a guy folks would be much more atuned to her prowess on the guitar. This beautiful rendition of the Blind Faith Classic "I Can't Find My Way Home" is about perfect. Eschewing the affectations of ...

This tune was originally released in 1972 on Jackson Browne's debut album. Written by Jackson, Bonnie has recorded it on numerous occasions, and in so doing, has made it her own. This is one of my favorite versions, taken from "Road Tested" and recorded live with Jackson on harmony vocals. The depth of emotion and feeling in Bonnie's vocal is part and parcel to her making this song her own. This ...

This is from one of my favorite CD's. It's Bonnie Raitt in 1972 at a studio in Philly. It's all acoustic with a few musicians in front of a small audience. Her voice is amazing. She does a great cover of this Steve Winwood tune. Enjoy!

I am not ashamed to admit that I can tune in to the sappy adult contemporary radio stations for a dose of nostalgia and enjoy it. It's not even an ironic nostalgia where I think back to the horrible music my mother subjected me to in the early and mid nineties and roll my eyes. I genuinely enjoy listening to Wilson Philips and that Boys to Men featuring Mariah Carey tune every once in awhile ...

You could say I'm almost gutless. I've had the hardest time choosing between these two wonderful performances of John Prine's Angel from Montgomery, so I've decided to post both of them. I am, however giving the nod to one of them via the artist info for this post. I'm listing them chronologically. The first is the version done by a young Bonnie Raitt, and this performance gets the nod from m...

I mean, I have as short an attention span as the rest of us. (well, maybe not that short...). I always forget stuff, and it's not like I sit around drawing her picture on the knee of my jeans in class. Why has my crush on her not worn off yet? Sure she's awesome, but so is a lot of other music that doesn't always grab me when I hear it. You know, when it comes up on shuffle, or at someone ...

I realize this is five years too late... but as you all know I found my old CD's and am really feeling nostalgic and thinking I should bring out all the oldies 'cause quite frankly the shit on the radio aint worth me taking time out of my day to talk about... less a few songs.Bonnie Raitt is the shit. I have a story. So when I came back to SF from NYC I was on this whole Yoga trip (I now practic...
