All Music GuideThe first of two sets taken from Bobby Enriquez's Japanese tour of 1982 features the powerful pianist in a trio with bassist Isoo Fukui and drummer Shinji Mori. Enriquez often seems unable to control himself musically, really ripping into the nine selections. He takes "Airegin" and "Donna Lee" at ridiculously fast tempos, doubletimes "Misty," jams Jobim's "Meditation" as a bop tune, and rips into "Holiday for Strings." Spectacular playing, not for the faint-hearted.
