http://www.rollingstone.com/news/story/6597661/16_blood_on_the_tracks Bob Dylan once introduced this album's opening song, "Tangled Up in Blue," onstage as taking him ten years to live and two years to write. It was, for him, a pointed reference to the personal crisis -- the collapse of his marriage to Sara Lowndes -- that at least partly inspired this album, Dylan's best of the 1970s. With Columbia set to release the LP, Dylan pulled back at the last minute, and at year's end re-recorded five of the ten songs in Minneapolis with a crew of area session musicians assembled by his brother, David Zimmerman.

I just finished an article by Josh Getlin of the LA Times, about a new biography that unmasks the identity of Susan Rotolo, who at 17 was immortalized as the long-locked giggly girl snuggly onto Dylan's hunched side while they were trudging through snow on the cover 'Freewheelin Bob Dylan.'"
The book, "A Freewheelin' Time: A Memoir of Greenwich Village in the Sixties," talks about the behind-the-scenes Dylan, a 20-year-old loose cannon who would scribble lyrics on... MORE

Many of Bob's songs have undergone radical transformations in concert over the years.
Here is one where he slows the original down, adds a delicious offbeat drumbeat and in the process converts it from the lustful whoop and lusty demand of youth to the rueful and regret-tinged reminiscence of maturer years
