From their new release "Approaching Normal", which it seems, is for those who like their music intense and angry. I found the album somewhat overwhelming when consumed as a whole. Better taken in small bites - eases the digestion. What drew me to this tune was it's basic primal intensity and the fierce way in which it is presented. It made its first appearance as a spoken word poem on the band'...
you stumble across just the thing you needed...I bought this album tonight and I'm halfway through it...I am tempted to stay up half the night and just wallow in it.thanks to "sdtnostd":http://mog.com/sdtnostd for posting about it tonight.
Photo by PatrickMy partner and I are celebrating 3 years of living together today. It's amazing how time flies.Love can be bitter-sweet at times, but it's hard to remember myself before I met my better-half.BTW, that's not us picture above... ;)
Blue October's lyrics can grate sometimes (maybe because I'm too old) due to a cheez factor (hey, grating cheez!) but then the sexy rhythm will win me over again (maybe because I'm not too old, HA)
There's something cheezy about this Blue October number, I almost feel that I shouldn't like it, maybe it's not 'quality' or something. It must be one of those guilty pleasures, like having a crush on someone totally inappropriate.
I'm always horrified when I hear music I like playing in supermarkets - fortunately, I've never heard any all-time long-time favourites - and I did hear a couple of Blue October's (bad name choice for initials, guys) in Extra Foods last week. However, good for them for hitting the mainstream, and still having albums that are full of musical goodness. This song reminds me of an acquaintance wh...
I thought my kids seemed kind of young at 11 and 12 to be so into videos and the latest music, and then I remembered being only 8 years old during the Summer of Love and being captivated by the what 'mod' music dribbled into our lives in the tiny backwoods northern town we lived in then. What I wouldn't have given then to have been 18 and in San Franscisco! Anyhow, I let them tune in to what'...
So, it has been a while since my last post. Somehow life has managed to rear its head as of late and I just haven't had time to post. On that note, I've been digging deeper into Blue October's catalogue and unearthed this gem (well at least to me it's a gem). From "Consent to Treatment"...enjoy!
So... I've been listening to Blue October's 'Foiled' album a lot the last couple of days. The singer has a voice that works for me and the over-all feel of the album is fine for this craptastic winter weather. But I've been listening to selected tracks and literally had no flippin' idea that this band I'm enjoying sings a song that I've mocked for months now.Every time our local emo-heavy radi...
So, for the first time since 2002, I went and saw Blue October the other night. The last time I'd seen them was at La Zona Rosa when Endochine opened up for them. They were drawing pretty well back then - well enough to fill up La Zona Rosa with 1200 alcohol starved drinkers, so this was interesting for me. First, the venue. Here's a shot that I took of it when I toured there earlier this year....
Blue October frontman Justin Furstenfeld was forced to announce the cancellation of the band’s Pick Up The Phone tour today because he’s been hospitalized for an “extreme mental anxiety attack.” Ticket refunds for the tour, which was set to make...
Every since I heard the song "Hate Me", I have been fascinated by this band. To come from such a shitty place like Texas amazes me. I'm not sorry if I offend any of you Texas loving texans, I hate that place. Anyway, this is not about my hatred for Texas or it being a barren waste land of unusable space. It is about Blue October and how much I enjoy listening to them, "X Amount of Words" ha...
http://frimerman.wordpress.com/ This was Blue October's promo tour of their new album Approaching Normal. Blue October has grown their fan base into millions+ after the release of Foiled and songs like, "Hate Me" and "Into the Ocean."My guess is that the band will shed some of its newly acquired audience with this Album. Approaching Normal is experimental rock pushed to its edges. The loy...
