As a kid my earliest music video memories are of Schoolhouse Rock, a series of educational shorts that used songs to grab a generation's attention and educate them on multiplication tables, U.S. history, and grammar rules. To my young ears she was simply the unknown winsome voice singing "Unpack Your Adjectives" and "Figure Eight". When I started doing song research for my own shows one artist...

I love Blossom Dearie. She is my favorite tiny voiced singer/songwriter/pianist. A lot of you might recognize her for her contributions to School House Rock. "Unpack Your Adjectives" is the best one she did in my book. She was born in 1928 in Durham, New York. There's so much history and information on her on the web. Here's some links:"Her own website":http://www.angelfire.com/ny/blossom...

Word has come that Blossom Dearie, jazz singer, pianist, she of the beguilingly soft and witty voice, has passed away in New York at 84. She sounded like no one else, had divine taste, and was performing at cabarets as recently as a few years ago. Here she is with one of Rodgers and Hammerstein's more whimsical songs:Some of you youngsters may know her from Schoolhouse Rock:I myself am partial t...
