Some people plant a tree. Others recycle or use energy saving light bulbs. But how do rockers Bloc Party, Of Montreal
and Feist save the environment? They contribute on the eco-friendly The Green Owl Comp: A Benefit for the Energy Action Coalition. The proceeds from the double-disc album, due April 8th, will go towards the Energy Action Coalition. The non-profit is more than 40 organizations from across the US and Canada, founded and led by youth to help support and strength... MORE

Going over the nine lists of albums and tracks. I just could not get rid Bloc Party of my head.
Even A Weekend In The City is not as instantly memorable as Silent Alarm, i still feel they are worthy to be my top of the list 2007 - an amazing track for an amazingly shitty year.

I probably listened to more music than ever this year, owing to a combination of factors. Great work, great connections, great friends, etc. Some of the songs themselves were even great. Anyhow, I'll post my top albums list soon, but in typical fashion here's the list of my favourite singles of 2007:
10: Amy Winehouse - Back To Black
I listened to this album on and off throughout the year, but it wasn't until the dying weeks of 2007 when the weather turned quite dreary ... MORE

Well, that was much better.
Back at the Manchester Central, which Bloc Party front-man Kele Okereke accurately described as both “an old train station” and “an empty air craft hanger”, the crowd were much better last night, with only a few flying cups of piss in the air, none of which (thankfully) got me.
Support came from Foals – a type of math rock, dance punk and funk hybrid – who were a lot tighter and just plain better than when I saw them earlier in the year... MORE

My favorite indie-Britrock album ever, hands down, is "Silent Alarm" by Bloc Party. It's my appropriate work soundtrack when life gets "worse than loopy" and needs the right song. The best track on there was the U.S. bonus track "Little Thoughts" [which is not only my favorite Bloc Party song but also my #3 favorite song of all time]. But another gem is from the "Little Thoughts" EP, and it's my #2 favorite Bloc Party song. Originally I heard the Minotuar Shock Remix as a... MORE

BEFORE it was re-recorded and gussied up for their debut album, SILENT ALARM , THIS is what She's Hearing Voices - one of my favorite BLOC PARTY songs - sounded like in its original indie single form.
Maybe it's because I heard it and fell in love with it long before the release of SILENT ALARM , I still MUCH prefer this incarnation of the track to the album release version.

If one thing can be said about Bloc Party it's that they never disappoint in the way of remixes. The latest remix from JFK of MSTRKRFT (why do they hate vowels so much?) of their new single Flux is no different.
I might be kinda late on this one but apparently it was issued as a freebie from NME and if you, much like myself, can't afford to pay $200 a year to get the magazine from the UK this probably passed you up.

Bloc Party recently released a few of versions of their "Flux" single. Most of the tracks on this single were remixes of the song "Flux", but there was only one song hidden in the Flux 12" Vinyl that was not a Flux remix, Where Is Home [Burial Remix]. Burial and Bloc Party don't share many fans, but that may change because of this song. I have been a Bloc Party fan for many years, and I think that this could be one of the best, if not the best remix that any band has ever don... MORE

Bloc Party recently recorded a new single titled "Flux," that will be released in the UK on November 12th. The band performed it earlier this month on Late Night With Conan O'Brien, as well as at their most recent Madison Square Garden stop. Now, the video has surfaced. Directed by Ace Norton, the "Flux" video was made over two days in Boston on the band's recent US tour with the performance troupe Kaiju Big Battel, according to the band's Web site. Some of the Kai... MORE

It doesn't seem so long ago since Bloc Party released A Weekend In The City, but there is a new record already out. It's only a single, so don't get too excited, but that usually means more is coming. So what do you think of it? It's called Flux, and personally, I'm loving it. It's punchy as all hell and almost sent my girlfriend into an epileptic fit, so that can't be bad. Check it, and comment.... MORE
