So tomorrow I begin my westward journey: from the Atlantic to the Pacific. In a way it is my own Manifest Destiny: a personal journey to expand my inner self. So I started to compile a top 10 list and it turned out rather boring and full of things I'm sure you've all heard before. So here's a list of a random number of notable things from 2007. Blitzen Trapper - Wild Mountain NationI dont care that they sound like the Grateful Dead, there's enough edge on many of the songs to increase the rock content. I am LOVING these guys. It's like if Pavement meets my morning jacket...i can't stop listening to this record! I haven't been excited about stumbling across a new band(to me i mean) since The Hold Steady.
No more talk...i will play a couple of sons...resistance is futile, you will love it

You could do worse than picking up the new one from Blitzen Trapper, "Wild Mountain Nation."
Kinda like The Band, but more kinda not - and currently opening for The Hold Steady.

Probably my favorite type of music can be described ashook-laden-non-complacent song writing. Basically, I like music that's catchy as hell and always trying new thing. Oh, and if it doesn't repeat the same chorus ten times then that's a plus, ahem "My Sweet Lord."
