Portland, Oregon's Blitzen Trapper released a seven song EP yesterday featuring the band's previously released murder ballad "Black River Killer" and six tracks previously only available on CD-Rs sold on tour. The material may be recycled for some, but for others it's a chance to sit down with some of the band's most accessible songs. "Big Black Bird" and "Silver Moon"—with their booming drums a

Blitzen Trapper have a new EP out that you can listen to exclusively on LALA (embedded below). The song “Black River Killer” sounds like a cover of soemthing. Our third day of the Pickathon Indie Roots Festival appropriately started at the Woods Stage with Deep Dark Woods. After a week of listening to this year’s Winter Hours, it was exciting to see how Deep Dark Woods would sound live. The latest EP from Blitzen Trapper (the American Folk Rock group attached to Sub Pop) Black River Killer, is a meaty 7 track ep that sticks to the ribs. Logging in at just over 35 minutes, it's already as long, if not longer than some the albums I've been listening to this year, and already much more relevant than most of the albums I've listened to (nearly 3 a week).Upon repeated listening, I...
Both Blitzen Trapper albums (Wild Mountain Nation and now Furr) eluded the best of year lists in terms of albums. This album I couldn't find for quite awhile until just a few weeks ago. It didn't really receive a whole lot of hype though some bloggers really felt it should've been up there. MADRID - The unrest that has gripped Greece is spilling over into the rest of Europe, raising concerns the clashes could be a trigger for opponents of globalization, disaffected youth, and others outraged by the continent's economic turmoil and soaring unemployment. Protesters in Spain, Denmark, and Italy smashed shop windows, pelted police with bottles, and attacked banks this week, while in...
The Tipi Tent is getting rammed tonight. First Aid Kit filled it, J Tillman easily consumed the tent with all of his fans. And now Portland's Blitzen Trapper are next to fill the now bulging Tipi. Frontman Eric Earley said it reminded him of his days as a kid when his parents sent him away to camp to set one of these up.
