They were the words of Julius Ceaser and now the Black Lips are adding a little rock to the famous Latin phrase. The track is off the group's first album for Vice records Good Bad, Not Evil. The Black Lips will tour again beginning in February of 2008. The Atlanta rock band will begin their tour, which supports their two 2007 releases Los Valientes del Mundo Nuevo and Good Bad Not Evil, on February 1st in Denver, Colorado. Diplo remixed the Black Lips single "Veni Vidi Vici" (latin for I Came, I Saw, I Conquered, which you can hear in the chorus of the song). They sound like four dudes who spent a lot of time listening to classic rock records, but they sure know how to bring it when they play. We're talking about none other than the Black Lips who have terrorized stages this summer at both Bonnaroo and Lollapalooza. Sure, they've been around a while (4 albums), and they're from Atlanta and I should have been a fan by now . . . but the truth is, I'm just now discovering the Black Lips. Grimy, sleazy, booze-drenched garage punk is back, and it was on full display on Saturday at the Logan Square Auditorium. Despite the relatively obscurity of Mannequin Men, the Black Lips, and the Ponys, the venue was packed to the brim. Sitting here listening to "Not A Problem" by the Black Lips and being very happy about it. Can't seem to track down anything else of off "Let It Bloom", though, and they strike me as a band i really need to hear a bit more before throwing down for an album.
