I'll never use aluminum foil again after watching the film "Nattura" featuring Bjork, Sigur Ros and other famous icelandic artists. The musicians used their international clout to bring awareness to the environmental devastation happening to their green isle by holding a concert and making this documentary. The film starts with aerial views of the stunning and complicated natural features of ic...

A true sign of music nerdery is finding yourself sitting around, dreaming up exciting, imaginary cover versions of songs. It's kind of the musical equivalent of playing Dungeons & Dragons. None of these covers have actually been done, of course. But if they were, I'd be first in line to hear them.Yeah Yeah Yeahs cover "Seven Nation Army" by the White StripesDrummer Brian Chase adds a post-punk...

The newest Bjork album, Voltaic, is a collection of songs recorded live at Olympic Studios in London. The songs are direct-to-tape versions of various songs off of Medulla, Homegenic, and Post. Listening to the first song now, “Wanderlust”, it sounds like some pretty good material. I think the idea here is that Bjork creates music [...]

Quite frankly, I am not a massive fan of music DVDs. There are quite a few concert DVDs out there that seem like they have been rushed to be put together and shipped out as fast as possible, or the quick-paced cinematography that infiltrates the recordings gives you as good a view as if you [...]

Apparently I'm the last Björk fan on Earth to catch this one, but it bears immediate posting. Please watch this vintage clip of Björk explaining the scientific intricacies of the all-but-extinct twentieth century invention known as the "television," which basically involves tiny globes of light, space aliens, an elevator, and an adorable Icelandic tattoo that grabs my attention more than anythin.

Bjork has always been an odd duck (or swan if you will). Iceland's biggest export (besides junk government bonds) is about to drop a 4-disc collection on us. Voltaic, out June 30th, contains two concert DVDs (recorded on her 2007 Volta tour in Paris and Reykjavik), a CD, and a remix CD.Today we're looking at the CD. The proper audio component of Voltaic is a disc of songs recorded live in

As we reported a month ago, Björk's performance at the August 15 Ola Festival in Spain was her final concert of the entire Volta Tour. The bjork.com 4Um moderators changed the topic title "The Volta Tour is Almost Over" to "The Volta Tour is Over". The interesting news is that Björk [...]~~

As much as I enjoy listening to her music, watching her videos, and attending her concerts, I'm of the opinion that Icelandic techno-sprite Björk is certifiably nuts. Brilliant, but loony.I might feel this way because of her bizarre whisper-to-a-shriek vocal delivery; or her strange repertoire choices, such as her almost straight-from-the-shoulder cover of the vintage big-band number "It's Oh S..
