Moggers' favorites by Billy Idol

I was on vacation in Ontario from May 26th - June 14th and didn't have a chance to do any mogging; so to say I feel a little out-of touch is an understatement. Looks like Mog has gone through an upgrade and I like what I see so far (though I'm hearing some whisperings of posting problems). Anyways, after being home for the past week I'm going to be going out of town again this weekend for a friend's wedding (What's with all my friends getting married? I'm not that old...... MORE
OK, OK, Billy Idol does'nt get many spins 'round here anymore. He's collectin' dust somewhere near the Kiss discs. But, this remake of the old William Bell soul ramp is a nice slice of Idol's best moment. Ragtime piano, hot backup singers, and a super-synthed up lead axe passage (ala Steve Stevens) creates a very rewatchable vid. Dig in.
So, after the re-emergance of hard rock and heavy metal in my life, I still hung onto some pop culture. Once again, Billy Idol was at the top of my list. Rebel Yell was a great album, and quite honestly, I still love it. It might be in my top twenty of all time. Who knows? Anyway, the early '80s had lots of good tunes that I liked. But these other songs had no real ties to them. Mostly I liked what my brother liked. Instead of doing separate posts for all of them... MORE
White Wedding, White Christmas, oh my. Billy Idol has discovered myspace and Bonnie sent me his videos. They're new! Note the modern, matte lip look he is "rocking" and how in White Christmas, it's shot all voyeuristically through panes of glass. As if you're standing in the bushes, wanting to see more.

White Christmas
It's the first week of November so naturally our thoughts turn to ... Christmas! And the holidays wouldn't be right without a traditional yuletide song covered by an '80s new wave icon like, say, Billy Idol, now wouldn't it?
And before you can even say "Jack Frost," yes, he has a whole CD of Christmas tunes, just released. Perhaps the perfect compliment to his 2005 CD, "Devil's Playground."
Full disclosure: I plagiarized this item from some hack at SFGate's Culture Blog.
It seems that Billy Idol's releasing a disk of Christmas tune covers on November 17th. Now you can enjoy Billy's versions of classic Xmas hits such as Frosty The Snowman and Silent Night. Nothing says "Christmas Joy!" like Billy Idol's sneering, contorted facial expressions. You won't be enjoying Billy's reworked phrase "It's a nice day for a White Christmas, it's a nice day to staaaaart agaaaayaaaayyan!" but you will get the more subdued version of Billy Drug-Free The Fam... I just wanted to put this out there...
Billy Idol needs mog. I would be very happy if he were here with us.
Billy Idol is entirely my favorite 80's personality. The snarl is what makes him Billy, and for those who have ever seen a picture of the man you know exactly what I mean by the snarl. I love his music and he is one of the true 80's badasses. My one qualm with sir Idol is that his songs are far far too long for pop. Mony Mony is 5 minutes long! but man that guy knows how to snarl.
