A dozen of Lady Day's very best sides from 1944 to 1949 are aboard this wonderful collection. Classic takes on material like "Lover Man (Oh Where Can You Can You Be?)," "Ain't Nobody's Business" (featuring the exciting work of Lester Young and Buck Clayton), Duke Ellington's "Solitude," "Them There Eyes," and her duet with Louis Armstrong on "You Can't Lose a Broken Heart" make this a budget set well worth seeking out. Clean transfers and great performances make this a lot of great Lady Day for pennies a serving.
