I've started this a handful of times over the last month, but kept hitting a rock wall. My mogiversary approached with anticipation and passed at formula 1 speed. Spring fever, real fever, household projects, new toys....way too many distractons lately. To think a little more than a year ago I was going through my tried and tru, time-worn solitary tradition of listening, compiling, catalogueing...

Ahoy there, Mogmates! We love our friends here at MOG! All four of 'em! So it's a crying shame we're going to lose them all after this post!"WTF, dude?!", I hear you cry.Well, in our Criminal Records series, The Missus and I discuss songs that feature crime, and this week's choices came courtesy of fellow Moggers, Scotfree, madrid spacestation spain, Anna, and contrabandwidth. "I Turned Out A Punk":"F-Punk" by Big Audio Dynamite doesn't qualify for my ISENIH series cause it falls squarely in the year '95. It seems it's a lost B.A.D. cd. It didn't chart on either side of the Atlantic. But to be fair, it was released four years after the last proper B.A.D.II cd in '91. The country was still in the throes of grunge(although it was waning). So it obviously was seriously...

BAD was a great ride the whole way...right up to the last recording that their label would not release. One of the most prized in my collection, the organic trip hop of "Entering a New Ride" speaks volumes about how screwed up the music industry is. It make s me wonder just how much great music lies unreleased in the giant machine....

Well, outside of working my tail off this week, I've been spending the spare moments catching up on posts (and harrassing fistula, sorry) by my trusteds and other new great stuff by other moggers. As it now seems appropriate to start a new post, I must once again look a bit over my shoulder because I'm not keyed into the new stuff like some, uh, younger moggers. Seems to me like there's not nea...

According to the wiki, my long-time faves are lumped in the new wave crowd. So, here's a toast to Dachmo and a nice remix 'n' tonic.

Technically a parody, BAD takes Johnny Horton's "Battle of New Orleans" smoothes on a little Brylcreem, and recasts it in the heartland of reggae/dubsville. A nicely modernized combat zone. hmmm...is there something going on here??

Fads, fronts, and fashion. When will it end?For all of the Uber-Hipsters that I saw last night in Portland, those who prided themselves on their striped shirts, tight, denim pants, Castro hats, forearm tattoos, and Vans kicks, this song is for you. It was probably first penned around the same year that you and the members of Hot Chip were conceived, but you knew that.If I could only get good se...

This March marks the third anniversary (holy shit!) of The Lost Turntable, which is MP3 blog years is like 84 since they seem to pop up and vanish so quick. Fucking hipster pricks don't know how to commit to shit. Anyways, longtime readers may know that I celebrate this by temporally lifting my self-imposed ban on reposting previously featured tracks. So if there is anything I have ever posted...

Every week I think I'll pop up a video I find somewhere. Today's video is one of my favorite B.A.D. songs, with a few interesting cameos (not just the ones Don Letts names in the intro).Have a great weekend everybody.
