We now have a name and a time-frame for the brand new, and fifth Biffy Clyro album. Slated for release on November 9, 2009, the album will be known by the name Only Revolutions. A single release will precede the album, laying the foundation.
Biffy Clyro will feature a rather special guest appearance on their forthcoming new album 'Only Revolutions'. Mr. Josh Homme will make an appearance as the contributor of an apparently impressive guitar solo. "He came to the studio and listened to the song and two minutes later, he was playing the best guitar solo you've ever heard" said Biffy Clyro front-man Simon Neil.

While it doesn’t always happen, there is something hugely satisfying about a band’s commercial and artistic peak dovetailing. Biffy Clyro took the guts of 10 years to reach a mainstream audience but managed it with their best work to date, 2007’s fine Puzzle album. The worry now is that, having taken so long to truly find…

Its performed live and there's no accompanying video but god damn it sounds like they've gone back to their pre-Puzzle glory days. Whilst our Strange Glue team were split down the middle about Biffy's 2007 sell-out monster hit Puzzle (this writer personally being on the hate side) this new track, titled That Golden Rule is a shining glimpse of hope for the bands future.
Reinvention is always going to prove a tricky concept. No band have proven so divisive in the Strange Glue offices than Biffy Clyro, with some claiming that they have "turned their backs on an entire cult-following and sound for number one hits and soulless music".
