What the heck !! Before he gives us another Postal Service album, Death Cab For Cutie frontman Ben Gibbard has invested his tour-earned cash on a vibraphone that is to be the foundation for his new musical project called Just Jazzin'? But Gibbard fans shouldn't get too excited, it seems it's all an April Fool's joke. This "new project" can be tuned into via the "Just Jazzin'" MySpace page. Boy, what an appropriate name for a song as it relates to this time of year, at least where I'm from (Boston). These past couple weeks have been typical New England weather for September. So I decided to see Ben Gibbard in San Francisco. My friend couldn't go, so I ended up deciding to just take the Greyhound upstate (I live near LA... it was an 857 mile round-trip) and go it alone. Even though I hadn't been to SF in about 20 years (when I was four or five) and I have an awful sense of direction coupled with (actually probably responsible for) a fear of getting lost. For my friends who actually might want to hear about it, let me tell yas, the wedding I attended in Cape Breton was THE most wonderful wedding I've ever been to, and probably ever will. A couple so truly in love, the perfect setting in Baddeck, perfect weather for the whole four days which is a little miracle in itself - by the Monday morning brunch the rainy weather had rolled in as usual, but nobody minded. Death Cab frontman and Mogger Ben Gibbard will be "in conversation" with novelist Daniel Handler ("The Basic Eight," "Watch Your Mouth," etc., etc.) On Sept. 11 at the Palace of Fine Artists in San Francisco as part of the City Arts & Lectures series.
Flying solo again.
In addition to talking, Gibbard will perform a few songs.

recently some dude uploaded the full ngiht one seattle show that ben gibbard did at the showbox recently. you can download every song... for FREE. it might download slowly but definitly worth the wait. Seriously, NO WORK. Anyway, I have never heard of the Cloak and Dagger Radio show before, but they are currently featuring an "interview" with Ben Gibbard. I said the man was funny but I love him even more for being able to make fun of himself. Listen over on their MySpace. (It's the last song on the player.)

I havent mogged in a zillion years. And then every once and a while I get these MOG updates from Ben Gibbard and he makes me feel lazy. i have seen DCFC in concert twice (and no, i will never catch up to amber), and never
have i seen ben smile so much while performing as i did last sunday night during his solo tour at the showbox in seattle.
he did an awesome job.....amazes me that
some people have so much talent, and then
there is well....me! none, not a lick, not a stitch. i will have to just go on
