Blog post image preview

The Brothers Gibb were more of my kid sister's generation, so I wasn't as wrapped up in them as she was. Consequently, I have never heard the claim that they had in fact written a song totally for Brian. This is something that his own boys The Beatles have never been documented as admitting doing for him ~ although rumor and hearsay abound as to a few Beatles songs having been written with their hopelessly devoted manager/best friend in mind, they NEVER came right out ... Though the Bee Gees' superstardom in the mid-to-late-70s has obliterated many listeners' memories of the group's earlier work, their brilliant beginnings is here for all to hear. Lavishly packaged as three double-CD digipacks in a custom-made slip, each of the group's first three albums is presented in both mono and stereo, accompanied by a disc of related bonus tracks and a lavish 20-page booklet. That's six discs, three booklets, a wealth of terrific music and intimate b... MORE

Blog post image preview As a tribute to the 30 year anniversary of the massively successful Saturday Night Fever, the double album of The Bee Gee's Greatest Hits will be re-released with new material added into the package. Saturday Night Fever launched The Bee Gees into commercial stardom, so it seemed only right to mark the occasion with a project.

The new edition of "Bee Gee's Greatest" will include two never heard before songs, as well as four new remixes. The disc will be available ... MORE

Free music video of To Love Somebody (13)
So, in one of Puffmagic's posts, Kate mentioned a blog called I Am Fuel, You Are Friends. E-I-E-I-O. And on this blog was a performance of "To Love Somebody" by Ray LaMontagne and Damien Rice. E-I-E-I-O. And never have you seen two artists make singing look so utterly exhausting. E-I-E-I-O. So, to balance out the earnestness, may I present: E-I-E-I-O.

Blog post image preview Back in the late '60s, when dinosaurs still roamed the land, the Bee Gees were a Beatle-esque pop band going with the psychedlic vibe of the time. Now their masterpiece from that era, 1st has been re-released as a two-fer that includes stereo and mono versions of the album, plus alternate takes and previously unreleased material. Bee Gee's masterpiece, 1st. Our friends at Aquarius Records in San Francisco hipped us to this re-release. Aquarius is an awesome store, the... MORE

Blog post image preview I have a fun question: What do you think is the worst song title in history? It's cool to like the song, but think the title is just plain bad. Here's my nomination - "Fanny (Be Tender With My Love)" by The Bee Gees. I LOVE the Bee Gees and I'll admit to really liking this song a lot too, but....wow....that song title is so horrible! Were they really serious? I wish they were more respected than they are for being incredible song writers (they are!), but with titles ... MORE

I thought the music video was kind of scary, but the song was nice. I could see it as being one of those "just chillin" songs. Circa 1977.

I love this clip. Clive Anderson is well known for his irreverence and his acerbic wit and The Bee Gees - Barry Gibb in particular - don't take it very well. Hilarious. It's quite a long clip but well worth watching it.
