Remember your middle school locker? I kept mine clean but never without a healthy smattering of my favorite bands pasted on the inside. In early preparation for making another mini-zine of sorts soon, here's a short rundown of who was hanging up in my middle school locker and how music fueled my 'zine creations. the beastie boys rock. i just checked out their videos from the library!! yeah, i love the library. watching the beastie boys always make me smile and want to jump up and do a karate kick in the air. wish i had a posse to hang out with and dress in uniformed tracksuits with. i especially like the intergalactic video because they are wearing construction worker uniforms in tokyo!! awesome. the construction workers in japan had the neatest clothing--you could never tel... Changing opinions about an artist happens very infrequently for me. I've decided that my defining personality trait is that I'm a synthesizer -- in all aspects of my life, I seem to gather information and don't form opinions for a long, long time. Seeks made a post about instrumental tracks by the Beastie Boys that instantly reminded me of an old favorite that I haven't heard in a while. The song is 'Sabrosa' from off of their Ill Communication album released in '94. A shot from the classic 'Sabotage' video Definitely a funky track that is catchy as hell. So it's finally friday again! I don't even have plans for this weekend but it's supposed to be really nice here in DC. I recently saw an article in the paper featuring The Beastie Boys. I knew that they working on something a while back but I recently found out that it's going to be an all instrumental album! I can't wait to hear their new album! The Beastie Boys will be doing more "ill communication" with fans this summer. The trio has just announced MORE intimate shows in support of their new summer album, the all-instrumental The Mix-Up. In addition to their intimate early August shows, Mike D, Ad Rock and Nathaniel Hörnblowér will head west and play "Gala" shows. Shadrach, Meshach & Abednego, if you remember the story, got boiled alive but were still prophesying, or singing, or something. Not that the Old Testament story has a damned thing to do with the rhymes. But come on. They name-dropped J.D. Salinger and Mario Andretti in this one. You gotta give 'em props for that.
