There’s no doubt, in my mind, that Bat for Lashes’ Natasha Khan is one of this year’s biggest breakout music stars. Her second album, Two Suns, has actually exceeded the massive pre-release hype and her image has proven to be much more integral to...

Dearest Muusers,I’ve just arrived home after attending a live taping of Late Night with Jimmy Fallon featuring Bat For Lashes, which will be airing TONIGHT at 12:35 EST, so watch it: They’ll be performing their latest single, “Sleep Alone.”You never know, you may even spot me on TV–either in the back of the audience or [...]
Photo by Amanda M HatfieldI never take the ariel view at gigs unless I’ve been seated there and have no choice. My simple desire is to wander to the barrier at the front to get as near as I can to the artist I admire enough to have paid my hard-earned cash to see. Chalk it up to ignorance or the fact I’ve only been to this venue once before, but it turns out there’s a whole different level,
"Listen to What You're Missin'" is a series of posts consisting of four tracks each week, giving you an updated look at new music. This week I explore some of the artists I discovered at San Francisco's Outside Lands, and well, the Raveonettes.Portugal. I usually don't write on Sundays, but this will have to be an exception. I had anticipated the last day of Lollapalooza to be the thrasher of all thrashers [in lollapalooza land, anyway]. I woke up early [no hangover, surprisingly] and headed over to the park by myself in order to catch a decent spot for Bat For Lashes. I've been looking forward to seeing Natasha's set for a while and missed it...
Bat For Lashes is the stage name for Britain’s Nastasha Khan. I’m actually quite familiar with Bat For Lashes despite not being the biggest fan. I was a fan of the song and video – What’s A Girl To Do but I didn’t really like the album Fur and Gold (here’s a review in [...]Related posts:Snow Patrol – A Hundred Million Suns Review Snow Patro
When posting about favorite Two Suns moments -- opener "Glass" with its Brian Chippendale drums, "The Big Sleep"'s Scott Walker turn, and the new single "Daniel" -- I called the latter a "chilly, running-in-the-dark dance-floor love song." How about a c...
Love that darkling, glam vibe put forth by Bat for Lashes' leading light Natasha Khan - a techno-dappled chanteuse/poetess for the 21st century in the spirit of Tori Amos, Siouxsie Sioux, and Björk. It's all there in the second Bat for Lashes album Two Suns, which was unleashed (unLashed?) in Khan's native U.K. on April 6 of this year. Two Suns may be a bit more on the folk-rock side than Khan's..
Natasha Khan's cover of Kings of Leon's recent 'Use Somebody'.I love the organ in the background, and the tambourine. It is reminiscent of the Doors, and gives the song a more timeless, stripped down feel - which also adds to the plea of loneliness that the lyrics provide.Where the original soars as a post-modern power ballad, Khan's cover brings it closer, more intimate, and raw.I love both ve...
It's definitely November here on Long Island, I could barely drag myself away from being under the covers but yet here I am. Today would be a perfect Sunday if it were not only Saturday.A new Cure tribute album has been released to benefit The Invisible Children Fund: "Just because you can't see them doesn't mean they don't hurt."(I added that quote. I know, I'm cruel)Here's the track listing:C...
