Hailing from Brixton, Felix Buxton and Simon Ratcliffe got their start as Basement Jaxx in 1994. While the duo may have gotten their start with UK chart-topper “Rendez Vu,” from their first album, Remedy, they are better known for their singles “Where’s Your Head At?” and “Do Your Thing” from their second album, Rooty (2001). In [...]

"Scars" might be my fave song on the new Basement Jaxx LP (at least what I've heard so far, also really dig the one with Santi...) I'd loooooove to see a video with all these amazing artists together, so I'm hoping this vid is just a teaser...? Basement Jaxx - Scars (ft. Meleka, Kelis & Chipmunk) - Video by Jan van Nuenen Anyone know if this is the official version or is there still a live-act...

The British duo, Basement Jaxx is back with their newest studio alum, Scars. Their fifth album contains the song “Day of The Sunflower (We March On),” which features Yoko Ono and reminds of me of a Halloween tune with catchy lyrics.Obscure is the best way to describe the song. It has aspects of house music [...]

Alright this a very dope track off the 5th studio album ‘Scars’ by the South London electronic duo–Basement Jaxx. Mrs. Nasir Jones Kelis sounds very good over the beat, as well as the UK representers–Meleka & Chipmunk. I’m super pumped to get my hands on this album once it drops Sept 21st.Download Scars | Download [...]

Written by: Vanessa MachirConcert Review: Basement JaxxEven though they've been around for more than a decade, British DJ duo Basement Jaxx (Felix Buxton and Simon Ratcliffe) still draw an impressive crowd. The main concert space at NYC’s Santos Party House was wall-to-wall people by the time they took to the stage. The crowd was made up of early '90s house devotees, British ex-pats, and people .

For me, Basement Jaxx are a little like the deep fried Mars bar. Most of the time, there are very few things I wouldn’t prefer to do than consume it. Then, just occasionally, usually after about fifteen pints, a game of rugby or a night out during which the DJ thought it was a good…

Felix Buxton and Simon Ratcliffe have, over the course of their ten year career, been consistently adored by fans and critics alike. And they deserve it. The duo, known as Basement Jaxx, made three stellar dance/house albums in a row, and though their 2006 effort, Crazy Itch Radio, didn’t quite earn them the number of accolades they had probably become accustomed to receiving, it seemed nobody .

What you know about Basement Jaxx!? Well, if nothing at all, allow this to be your introduction to the UK house/dance/electronica duo, consisting of Felix Burton and Simon Ratcliffe. My man David Hecht put me on them in 8th grade, and I shitted all over them. I wasn’t a fan at all. 8 years later, [...]

Basement Jaxx reveals their new video for the song "Scars" from the album of the same name. With a rosebush like the plague, Basement Jaxx collaborated with Dutch Artist Jan Van Nuenen to make the video. "Scars" gushes with herbaceous fury circa 1989's Biollante from Godzilla vs. Biollante (and yes, I did just make a Godzilla reference).

An experience from last week caused me to reflect on how I used to find out about new bands, back in the day. Fair warning: if you tire of my navel-gazing, click the Back button, or scroll along. No hard feelings.OK, where was I? Oh yeah ...I was taking Morgan and some of his friends to a work site, and was listening to a mix CD I had made, of my "songs for the deaf":http://mog.com/Joxley/blog_...
