A composed excursion into ock & roll's restless rhythms, Bare Jr.'s Brainwasher, the band's second full-length, unveiled some traditional alternative pop/rock style approaches while remaining surprisingly in the midst of country inspirations. Nashville's Bare Jr. is headed by Bobby Bare, Jr., a descendant of the celebrated '70s country star. They seem like they are adept at creating this kind of country-rock-inspired style. Bare's roots within ock's most classic tunes are also shown through all of the album's tracks, such as "God" and "Kiss Me." While "God" rounds out the moodiness of the country sound, "Kiss Me" clanks around what could be easily figured as a punk-inspired tune. From the jumpy flows of "If You Choose Me" to the lowering noisy presentation of "Why Do I Need a Job," the band composed a set sounding like a whole unit in spite of all the hybrid interpretations.
Today I went to work at my new job only to find out that I don't go to work at my new job until tomorrow. Though I am happy to have one more day off, it's made me mopey. Because now I have to deal with having a nervous stomach tomorrow too. Therefore, today's song of the day is Bobby Bare, Jr., as Bare Jr., with "Why Do I Need A Job?"Oh, but my situation is not his situation. If only. Why do...
In continuing with yesterday's post of running away and joining the rock and roll circus...here is the great Bobby Bare, Jr. and his two cents on the subject....it keeps sounding better and better to me.
Oh man...I am putting my liver on warning now. October 20 @ The El Rey here in Los Angeles with Lucero and Bobby Bare Jr...i have visions of whiskey, lots and lots of whiskey
