We went to see Band of Horses this past weekend at The Palladium in Dallas. I don't feel like writing a lengthy review, but the show was great overall. It's a good thing we saw them when we did, because they have recently had to cancel a few dates (according to their MySpace page). We were upset that they didn't play 'I Go to the Barn...', but they played the snot out of 'The Great Salt Lake' among others. I don't think Cass McCombs and his band was very good live, desp... MORE
It's just recently that I've come across Band of Horses, but I can't thank my friend enough for encouraging me to take a listen.
I'll just keep it simple. This song pulls me in with soothing tones and puts me completely at peace. Like a mother holding you close and singing you to sleep. Then it kicks it into full gear and rocks.
Then lulls you back to sleep the same way it brought you in.
Enjoy.
My buddy's uncle died last friday im getting up in a suit and going with him for emotional support.
this song seems appropriate.
Oh i scored kava so im aces.
i've been thinking about haunting songs ever since my post about "the boys of summer." and today i was reminded of this one. by a ford commercial, no less :]
once i start listening to it, i just can't stop. it's almost hypnotizing
For some reason, my iPod (on shuffle) just played the following songs in a row:
Band of Horses - "Weed Party"
Dave Matthews - "Too High"
The Cox Family - "I Am Weary, Let Me Rest"
"Who taught you how to do this stuff?"
"YOU, alright? I learned it by watching you, iPod!"
so, what is it with all the commericals with beatles covers lately? in the past month, i have heard at least three from the fab four... one cover i really like is from the levi's commercial...the cover of "walk the line." i looked up the sultry female who sings it, and sadly there is only a thirty second clip...boo. maybe there is a full version now...hm. favorite commercial covers, anyone? and i'm really starting to dig band of horses. i might have to buy everything... The year in music 2006 was a year of extremes. While The Corporate Dictators continued to struggle More and More Listeners were able to listen to More and More Bands literally All The Time! The Internet Revolution has taken hold of all of us Music Lovers and we are all conscripts in the war to free the music, most of us by choice some by chance. In a year when cd sales are at an all time Low, Artists in the new Mainstream.. The Internet, are making a sound in the grand co... MORE
I'm in the middle of a drought right now. A concert drought, that is. The last show I went to was...well, I honestly cannot remember. That's how long it has been since I've been to one. I'm so ashamed of myself, haha. What's even more disturbing is that there have been so many opportunities to go, but my lack of funding always hinders me from actually going. I wish I was a millionaire and then the problem would be solved... There's a Heartless Bastards show tonight... MORE
In hindsight, I think that "Everything All The Time" by 'Band of Horses' was my favorite album of 2006. And someone told me once that hindsight is 20/20. The more times it spins, the more I am falling in love with it...just great stuff, start to finish.
It seems to me that this MOG Wars thing was taken a little too seriously by all of us. I have not seen a recent count, but I have the feeling that there will not be any reloading going on. I was amazed at the amount of music deaths in the past three days, and the creativity moggers put into the posts describing their demise. What now is the question on my mind. Is it wrong to want another MOG wars so soon? I am not sure how hard it was to organize this whole thing, but how... MORE
jess and i were watching this show last night over at this guy's house, and we were pretty stoned. it was this program about people on death row, or with life sentences, and they said that this one guy would not be eligible for parole until TWENTY THOUSAND TEN. now, that's definitely what they said. but it us about 10 minutes to really confirm that when they said that, they meant the year 20,010. which is almost 18,000 years, man. that is a long motherfucking time to...
