AMG Review of El Sapo
Drago Bonacich
All Music GuideProduced in Santa Cruz de la Sierra during seven months of recording sessions, this album achieved gold status within three months in Bolivia, soon climbing charts around Latin America. El Sapo was released in the U.S. in June 2000, after its catchy song, "La Bomba," became a huge success, getting closer to worldwide chart-topping "Macarena." Formerly known as Azul, playing Latin pop and Jamaican eggae, Azul Azul, led by singer/songwriter Fabio Zambrana, combines ock and different Latin rhythms filled with funny lyrics, from modern ock/Bolero "Loco" to Merenhouse "Mujeres," ending with an English-language romantic allad called "I Believe in You."
