Why'd she have to go and make things so complicated? Avril may be many things but is "too sexy" one of them? Islamists in Malaysia seem to think so. Lavigne joins the ranks of other female artists such as Gwen Stefani and the Pussycat Dolls in what the youth wing of the Islamists deems as "inappropriate." Performers are required to be covered up to their knees, and to refrain from jumping, shouting, hugging and kissing on stage. "It is considered too sexy for us. ... It's... MORE

Despite all the criticism Avril gets, one aspect you must give her credit for is her versatility. Every time she changes her sound, many of her fans follow... that's got to count for something.
Avril Lavigne responded to the lawsuit she has been served by the 70's pop band the Rubinoos. Last week Rubinoos members Tommy Dunbar and James Gangwar slapped the 22-year-old pop star and co-writer on her hit single "Girlfriend" saying it was a direct rip-off of their 1979 tune "I Wanna Be Your Boyfriend." This is what the poser diva had to say on her Web site: "To my dear media, friends, and fans, You may have heard some news that two guys who wrote for some band f... MORE
Wanna play the new game “What Song Does Avril Lavigne Rip Off Here?” Always in the mood for gossip we found yet another reason why Avril Lavigne should be keeping herself in solitary confinement at PerezHilton.com. Another song off the pop stars album The Best Damn Thing has an uncanny similarity to a track off Fatherfucker by electroclash hottie Peaches. Avril’s “I Don’t Have To Try” and Peaches “I’m The Kinda” are melodic twins.

This is what I get for surfing the internet when I’m supposed to be working – serves me right. I thought I was a fan of globalization until this Slate article (http://www.slate.com/id/2165921/fr/flyout) showed me the evil that can come of it. To lessen my pain a bit I will subject you to the same torture. Here’s the most asinine chorus so far in 2007 in seven different languages: Japanesehttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c6YhaDA6fNcGermanhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rH... MORE
Avril Lavigne is being sued by the 1970's pop group The Rubinoos, who say the Canadian pop star ripped off one of their songs for her hit single "Girlfriend." We assume this is the type of stuff that happens all the time when you have someone else writing your music. Tommy Dunbar and James Gangwer of The Rubinoos say that for "Girlfriend" Lavigne and her co-writers ripped off their 1979 song "I Wanna Be Your Boyfriend," which judging by the title sounds like rip off of a... So, my highschool is putting on the play Singin' in the Rain and my best friend is going to be Don Lockwood. At first he was telling me it was going to suck because the guy who is going to play Cosmo was getting high instead of coming to theater practice and then today there was a matinee for the middle school and he did everything perfectly..so I guess the drugs were helping him remember all of his lines. Anyway, so now, apparently the play is going to be amazing and so I... MORE
I know I'm going to loose a lot of respect for saying this, but I like Avril. I haven't bought the latest one yet; her single's so different and poppy to me (in a bad way) I'm not sure if I'll like it. Her first two CDs were really good and even though they were co-wrote by men, I can really connect with a lot of her lyrics. Most of the time, I'm listening to music and am able to empathize with the artist, but with her, I'm like, "me too!" Right now, I'm listening to "Fall... MORE
I hate myself for liking this song, but it's fun and catchy.
I love it when she sings/says "motherfucking princess." Seriously, this song-style reminds me of Toni Basil's "Mickey." I think that's why I like it so much.
