Autechre have a pile of music left over after releasing their beautiful new album Quaristice and are compiling it for release as well. Alternate versions of tracks from the special edition and regular release will be made available as digital downloads. Longtime fans of Autechre will probably be ecstatic about Quaristice. It harkens to early Autechre music - more experimental, more chaotic, and less dance friendly than the last 4 albums or so. IDM pioneers Autechre released the digital version of their new album today as well as news of a one-off radio show and a world tour. The new album is titled Quaristice, it's out on WARP and the mp3 version includes track-by-track artwork by The Designers Republic! You can download it worldwide from BLEEP music store. Though you wouldn't know it by looking at their official website, Autechre have a new album in the works. The experimental electronica duo haven't updated their own site since the release of Untitled in 2005, but FACT Magazine received news that Autechre will release their 8th album in March of 2008. Does anybody else here dig Autechre? I just heart their take on electronica, it's not too boomy or dance-y, they use more small sounds and clever layering, kind of itchy, background music instead of full-on rave-beats or digital slam/noise. As an official "old guy," I find that my musical genre-meter doesn't go into dance-music seizures when I hear them, it's more just purely sonic, so I end up listenin and not judging.
