Despite a traffic prone delay, technical difficulties and the tragic malfunction of a beloved Casio, Au Revoir Simone succeeded in performing a charming, meditative and yet surprisingly amped up set Saturday night at the Rock and Roll Hotel in Washington, DC. Armed with a slew of amazing new songs from their elegant spring release Still [...]

Au Revoir Simone is about to release their latest CD "Still Night, Still Light" next Tuesday. If you remember last year it seemed that every other post was about Au Revoir Simone remix, or re-make, collaboration, or other and to be hones form some one who has been able to listen the whole CD this may happen again with this release. I'm including only two songs "All or nothing" and "Shadows" bec...
Au Revoir Simone’s Still Night, Still Light isn’t due until next Tuesday, but the Brooklyn-based synth-pop trio is currently streaming the album in its entirety on Myspace. Produced by Thom Monahan (Vetiver, Little Joy), the album is the follow up to the keyboard-toting heroine’s 2007 full-length debut The Bird of Music.Start camping out on the virtual line at the Amie St. store, where the girl...
The trio of females known as Au Revoir Simone have always dabbled in the fantastical but so far, they've never truly delivered one completely memorable album (though this is only their third attempt) and so it's with much hope and questionable enthusiasm that we delve into their newest attempt; Still Night, Still Light.
The electro-dream pop trio’s third album is evocative and even beautiful, but falls just short of leaving a lasting impression. Angelica Tatam reviews.
This is the third album from Au Revoir Simone, and it finds the Brooklyn-based ensemble in a contemplative mood, musing on the emotional tolls of the touring lifestyle. It's a subject that seems to weigh heavy on their minds, as the first few tracks of the album are subdued, to say the least.Electro instrumentation and sparse melodies threaten to become something other than atmospheric, but nev...
The trademark Au Revoir Simone sound is there but there is a far more darker, one might even say bleaker edge to the all-female keyboard trio's brand new album.Apparently this has something to do with the bands lack of home time and as they have spent more and more time touring and away from their family and friends they began to write their new material. This is their third album and for me it ...
If you're still reading, you'll probably like Au Revoir Simone.I'm trying to come up with some plausible explanation of where I encountered this band, but I seem to have no choice but to confess to seeing them on MTV's You Heard It First (or whatever it's called).Picked up the album at Other Music today. Packaging was delightfully lo-fi.Check out their website where you can download two good, f...
Au Revoir Simone covers my favorite Christmas song, Vince Guaraldi's holiday classic "Christmastime Is Here," for the album I'll Stay 'Til After Christmas , a benefit CD for Amnesty International. Au Revoir Simone have a remix album of The Bird of Music out on November 11th called Reverse Migration which features remixes amongst others from Jean-Benoît Dunckel of Air, Alexis Taylor of Hot Chip, The Teenagers, Best Fwends and this gratifying Ruff and Jam remix of 'Lark'. The band are currently working on a [...]
Our last transmission from Brooklyn trio Au Revoir Simone was their cover of David Bowie's "Oh! You Pretty Things" from the Life Beyond Mars compilation. They have a remix album out next month. Reverse Migration includes tweaking by the Teenagers, Best Fwends, AIR's Darkel, Montag, Best Fwends, Hot Chip's Alexis Taylor, Air France, and others. Like, for instance, following the migration theme, ...
3 girls, synthesizers, and a drum machine. This album is quiet and somber but still a little upbeat. It's fun. It reminds me of Broadcast or Psapp but a little less technically complicated and more twee. Maybe like Dear Nora but with synths (not exactly but you get the idea). It's pretty straight forward electronic indy pop. I don't think there are any missteps in the album as a whole. I...
