Atlas Sound aka Bradford Cox of Deerhunter’s solo project has been around for some time. I never bothered to listen to Deerhunter or Atlas Sound until last year actually, where Nancy was telling me she preferred Bradford Cox’s material. Still, I missed out on a large chunk having only checked out Microcastle which I do [...]Related posts:Atlas Sound featuring Panda Bear Walkabout MP3 Review Ex
ALBUM REVIEW: Atlas Sound – Logoswords: Jamie MiltonThe career of Bradford Cox, under the moniker Atlas Sound and fronting critical darlings Deerhunter, is indeterminate. The sporadic means by which Cox writes and releases his songs highlights this; songs are leaked by himself at times, other times they’re leaked by others. He goes weeks without writing [...]
Prolific and prodigious is there anything the profusely talented Bradford Cox can’t do? What with his day job in swoon-inducing noise merchants Deerhunter and his continuous array of cover versions, instrumentals and scraps of new work that comprise his ever popular blog and this, his second solo outing under the Atlas Sound moniker, he barely…
With Logos, bedroom pop auteur Bradford Cox steps out of the shadows and into the light of day, producing one of the year's most accomplished indie-pop albums in the process.Take a quick gander at Deerhunter's discography and you'll notice a clear stylistic trajectory. From the confrontational noise of "Turn It Up Faggot" to the ambient preoccupations of Cryptograms to the straight-up indie-pop...
Artist: Atlas SoundAlbum: LogosLabel: Kranky (US) 4AD (Europe)Release Date: October 20Deerhunter frontman Bradford Cox is slowy turning into the kind of rare musical genius wunderkind that are unfortunately so few and far between. Through a slew of Bedroom Demo's, discharged EP's and self-indulgent full-lengths, Cox has cemented himself as not only a notable songwriter, [...]
We at Cities of the Plain only have so much time on our hands and as such, we're recruiting a few of our music loving friends to provide some guest posts here and there. First up is our pal Jared, who recently started Playtonic Dialogues a sometimes music, sometimes philosophy blog and is living and working in New York City. Jared headed north this past weekend for All Tomorrow's Parties and ...
Atlas Sound’s new album Logos has leaked online, and it is getting amazing praise…like it should be. Bradford Cox, one of the finest indie musicians out there has done it again. Right away, the song Shelia stood out to me. It grabs you from the first second, and won’t let you go. It is perfect [...]
Deerhunter frontman Bradford Cox has a side-project by the name of Atlas Sound and if you didn't know, they're rather good. Their upcoming long-player Logos is due in a few days (October 19th here in the UK and October 20th in the US) via 4AD but just before it's release, Cox has decided to offer a new, free bonus EP to those who purchase the record via the Rough Trade website.

If you haven’t read my review of Atlas Sound’s Logos, do so now and then delve deep into the visual interpretation for the disc’s longest track “Quick Canal”. Initially, I was definitely put off by this track, but have since learned to love it’s euphoric dazing ways. Share this on del.icio.usDigg this!Share this [...]
A couple of days ago La Blogotheque posted this video of Bradford Cox performing one of the songs from Atlas Sound's latest album Logos. Check out the stripped down version of Attic Lights below.[via]Speaking of Atlas Sound videos, there's a new "approved" video for the excellent Quick Canal, featuring Laetitia Sadier of Stereolab on vocals.Quick CanalOh, and that last virtual 7" is also very g...
Logos is easily one of my favorites of the year, so it’s really nice to see a video for one of my favorite tracks. Once again, download “Walkabout” below.Atlas Sound- Walkabout (W/ Noah Lennox)
++Really all over this song by Atlas Sound/Bradford Cox (here again modeling more winter headwear via Done Waiting) off of Logos. It's upbeat and relaxing in the vein of Animal Collective and unlike the song by Sleeping States from the other day, it meanders but in a way that works. Atlas Sound is touring with Broadcast, whose new song might not be good to listen to if you're prone to hearing v...
I've been fading out with Bradford Cox's latest offering, Logos which is set to be released next month under his solo moniker Atlas Sound. The prolific shoegazer and braintrust of the recently hiatus(ed) Deerhunter continues to capitalize on his constant reliability with a batch of 11 fresh tracks. The highlight of Logos comes [...]
Bradford Cox's will be releasing a new solo album on October 19 called "Logos", in support of the release of the album he will be playing at some shows in Europe, it will take him across the UK, France and Spain. Atlas Sound, Bradford Cox’s solo work outside of Deerhunter, combines many aspects that fans have come to love and expect with a couple of curveballs thrown in for good measure. Logos, the second LP from Atlas Sound, is coming out October 20th and it features Noah Lennox among others. Expect a review next week, but [...]
Another month, another Deerhunter namecheck this time through the release of Logos the forthcoming album from Bradford Cox's side project Atlas Sound, which features guest appearances via Panda Bear from Animal Collective and Laetitia Sadier from Stereolab.
Re: this song, our own Mehan Jayasuriya said it well: "On “Quick Canal”, he lovingly builds up and tears down a cathedral of sound for Sadier to inhabit, layering a deep bass groove, tambourine hits and a wall of gently panning organs atop a steady, shuffling beat. Midway through, the song falls apart, briefly taking a detour into glitchy noise before giving way to a squall of fuzzed-out guita

Atlas Sound: LogosApparently the cover of Logos is a photo of its creator, the hyper-talented and clearly emaciated Bradford Cox, vocalist for Deerhunter, sometimes drummer for Lotus Plaza, and solo force behind the Animal Collective-inspired lofi bedroom project Atlas Sound. And it’s an apt image for Logos, equal parts entrancing, creepy and mysterious. It’s also an unexpectedly intimate reco
