Sure enough, two days after Valentine's Day, I'm changing my tune from "No Pussy Blues" to the following:

Anyone checked out RCRD LBL yet? For those without their finger constantly pressed against the throat of the tech news, RCRD LBL , is web site without vowels AND a source for free, DRM -free music. The site is the brainchild of Peter Rojas (engadget.com, gizmondo.com) and the cats from Downtown Records. I'm stuck moMogging on the old Pearl right now. But, if someone would check this out and let me know, I'll slide you some of my spare Awesome Points.... MORE

Sunday night...most would be sitting in their living rooms, watching Ty Pennington and crying. But not me, or my fellow MOG -ettes, Librarianguish and Jaye and imsochilly went to see Art Brut and The Hold Steady.
Now, we all know Sunday night shows can be rough and this was no exception. I hope that both AB and THS know Seattle can do better than that comatose crowd. I was actually ashamed of the audience and their lack of enthusiasm. Granted, the venue was horri... MORE

Art Brut's Ed Argos has started a tour blog and the first post is up now at NME . Art Brut are currently part of the NME Rock 'N' Roll Riot Tour along with The Hold Steady, Demander, The Blood Arm, federale and more. Ed says he's supposed to be writing 100 words a day for the tour blog, but has been having "too much fun watching the Hold Steady and Demander." He's summed up the first few days which landed them in Rhode Island, Boston, Philly, and North Carolina. Ed als... MORE

Some days ago, I came across this post by Carmensandiego and accepted her kind invitation like a message in a bottle.
Here's a track I've chosen as "smile-bringer"
It's always a delicate alchemy to come up with a decent mixtape for someone that you know. It's an almost impossible task when you're thinking about a complete stranger...
Anyway, I'm wondering if you distinguished Moggers still make mixtape. Do you have guidelines? A special recipe to make them? ... MORE

My beloved Art Brut,
DO NOT i repeat DO NOT tour with the hold steady!!!! I know that I am supposed to like the hold steady but I loath them so much I can feel my skin crawl in fact I really don't recognize them as a real band (no capital letters) they are really more of a bad Bruce cover band. Art Brut I strongly recomend that you drop out of the tour now and have your own headlining tour, remember all the fun we had at Starlight Ballroom a year ago with Spinto ... MORE

English indie rockers Art Burt are coming to North America to promote their sophomore album It's a Bit Complicated, released on June 25th via Mute. The group will be making 10 stops on this continent before heading back to Europe to tour most of Germany.
Although It's a Bit Complicated isn't as well received by critics as their debut album, Bang Bang Rock and Roll (Fierce Panda-5/30/05) the album is nonetheless propelling the group on another international tour.

So far, 29 brave souls have filled out lists for the MOG Best of 2007 So Far. That's awesome, and I'm thankful for those that have contributed so far. I'm a bit concerned that it won't be representative of all of MOG ; to be honest, it's not even 10% of those that trust me. So hopefully you guys are still debating your lists. I will be collecting lists until Monday, July 16, at the link above. And now, my choice for the #9 album of the first half of 2007:

Here is the music video for Direct Hit by Art Brut. I was taking to Eddie Argos last night and he was all excited about being I, Claudius for it. From what I have seen, he makes a good cripple and parties like Caligula.

I'm quite surprised at myself, but I just can't seem to get enough of Art Brut these days. It's all so damn catchy musically, and lyrically it's as matter-of-fact, poignant, and witty as it gets. I haven't been listening to them for too long and time will tell if I'll find them to be a novelty or something more. The first album certainly left me wanting and "It's a Bit Complicated" has satisfied my craving with the same energy, attitude, trashy hooks, and meaty beats that m... MORE

fter seeing an excellent Brecht adaptation tonight, (more on that later), I decided to do a little music writing. So, for your pleasure, a review of Art Brut's It's a Bit Complicated: Eddie Argos would be nothing if not a smart ass. No one can tell if the Art Brut frontman takes himself seriously, even though the first song on his first album declares he’s “not ironic.” On their debut Bang Bang Rock & Roll, Art Brut blurred the line between irony and sincerity to the... The stars aligned perfectly. A few things had to fall into place in order for things to work out as planned. And they did!
The night started out at Zooma, where a martini was planned (and had...). Zooma was the bar on Federal Hill where Jessica and I started our first date after getting back together last September. My brain was going absolutely bonkers. I couldn't think straight, trying to contemplate what was going to happen next.
Our reservations at Cassarino's w... MORE

Art Brut is high speed, high-brow indie art rock at it's zenith. Their follow up to BANG BANG ROCK AND ROLL , yesterday's release IT'S A BIT COMPLICATED keeps the band par for the course it set for creating the cuttingly esoteric and the appropriately avant garde music since their debut in 2005. Hooray for them. And hooray for us.... MORE

Direct Hit (Live)
.
.
Art Brut are one of those UK bands who are more loved in the US, Japan and Germany than at home, where they are considered a bit of a ‘novelty’ act. New album It’s a Bit Complicated is lovingly prepared with the same recipe that made the first batch of tracks on Bang Bang Rock & Roll so appealing. Like Bang Bang before it, Complicated has great lyrics, mega-trashy pop hooks, meaty beats, and a snazzy attitude that’s homemade, no... MORE
