After the release of 1986's Walking Through Fire, April Wine lessened their rapid record-tour-record cycle, resulting in subsequent sporadic albums and tours. The group appeared to be in hibernation for much of the '90s but came roaring out of their slumber in 2001 with the release of their first studio album in seven years, Back to the Mansion. The extended breather has not diminished the group's talent for penning melodic ock -- songs such as the album-opening "Won't Go There," "I'll Give You That," and especially the power ballad "Paradise" all carry on April Wine's trademark sound and approach. Longtime April Wine fans will not be disappointed with Back to the Mansion, something you cannot often say that about a new album by a veteran classic ock band that's been M.I.A. for an extended period.
