All Music GuideOne of the major jazz pianists to emerge during the 1960s, Andrew Hill has always performed uncategorizable music that has never been a major commercial success despite (or perhaps because of) its obvious artistic value. The creative pianist is heard on two sidelong solo improvisations on this excellent LP, building his solos from fairly simple themes into works of great complexity and individuality. This deluxe LP (which contains an insightful interview and Hill's discography up to that time) is worth the search.
