Andrew Bird at the Hiro Ballroom (10/07/08)Andrew Bird just announced a string of new dates on his Noble Beast tour and a return engagement to NYC is absent from the itinerary. This isn’t really a huge surprise though given that I don’t think his recent Radio City show sold out despite the relentless promotion on [...]

There's always been something about Andrew Bird's music that has attracted oddballs. Whether it's the idiosyncratic curiosities that Bird weaves so deliciously between the layers of each of his songs (handclaps, whistles, loops, samples, glock et al) or simply because he chooses to sing from a perspective that sits him right on the cusp of mainstream pop. culture, there's long since been an inn...

He pairs it with his typically qu...
Although Andrew Bird isn't a chameleon the same way an artist like Beck or David Bowie was, his repertoire is nevertheless about diverse as it gets when it comes to folk/indie rock. In the past this has been somewhat of a problem, though his older records are definitely enjoyable, it sometimes felt more like [...] Related posts:Andrew Bird - Armchair Apocrypha Review Andrew Bird is an indie...

Andrew Bird's Noble Beast, however, makes me want to eat my words. The clean edges and pitch-perfect vocals make for an album that flows seamlessly and beautifully. "Oh No," th...
Just in case you need another reason , here's a wonderful video of Andrew Bird and Yo-Yo Ma. As Stereogum said:Ma's eager to the point of being patronizing, sorta like a preschool TV show host in laying out the rules (I'll play something, you just jump in whenever) and congratulating Andrew on his performance as if this was Bird's first time in violin class. However Andrew probably doesn't min...
Just the other day, I was thinking to myself "Isn't it about time for a new Andrew Bird album? Because I could really use one." Turns out, it is that time, which is great!
